Amazing!

I can't even think of a thing to say...speechless...convicted...pensive.

You have captured the plight of us all in these few lines.

Thank you. I will let the score speak for itself. wow.

It's a sad state, this world we live in today. And there's one at least in every city. I've been in your place. It's hard to know who to be angry at. Life has failed those people in so many ways.

Still, thanks for sharing this and I think you'll do well in the contest.

Your well penned poem of the inequality of our modern day world is quiet poignant. We see the suffering all around us. What do we do? Look the other way, push down on the gas pedal to quickly put this unfortuate person behind us, or do we drive through the nearest fast food and buy a hamburger, fries and drink, and take it back to the boy/man with the sign that cries out to the world, "I'm Hungry?" I'm not preaching, girl, I've done it. I least I made a diference on one life.

bless you patti - yes, this continues to perplex me - we're so anxious to write off these people ... but it doesn't change the fact that they're PEOPLE, does it? Bless you for your thoughtful review, and bless you AGAIN for your lovely six, which is so much appreciated.

    Best wishes

The message is very clear. People are too concerned about their own lives to care about others. At the same time, I think. In order to give, you need to have. If you don't work hard, you'll join the ranks of the have-nots, and then we'll have another one on the streets. What can be done to give those people jobs?

A well written verse that tells it like it is. Even the color red shows your
wrath and indignation at the inequalities in life. Well done.
Thank you for sharing. Robin :)

great ! no wonder you won the context .Living in India we keep seeing inequality every where -particularly in front of temples where pilgrims often give them change. The juxtaposed images are very strong and unforgettable.Congratulations!

I've heard so much about this in India, Sanku - that must such a challenging background to live in. I can only begin to imagine. Do you ever get inured to it? Thank you so very much for your special six on this - so much appreciated! :)Sharyn
reply by Sanku on 09-Feb-2013
Yes we do unfortunately get inured .Every posh and upmarket area will have a rundown slum somewhere near but no one minds may be because it is a source of cheap labour. But good things are happening.A poor autorikshaw(a three wheeled car)drivers daughter stood first in all India Chartered Accountants course -a really tough course even the pampered children find tough to get through. Many poor people struggle to get their children out of their rut and they are succeeding .We ar highly highly overpopulated!

I know! I've always thought India must be such a hard place to live in, with so much poverty right "in your face". But I'm so glad to hear that poorer people can make it by using their intellect - that's so encouraging! Do you write about India much? about your life-style, and what's important to you?

It's the same wherever one goes. Where does one draw the line. You deserve to win the contest. The poetry is very good. Food for thought.
Well done

This a wonderful poem. You have penned it down very well and the indifference to class inequality is very touching. Enjoyed reading this poem.

No they don't, but will give everything to illegals that deserve to be sent back where they came from. They hate America as they hold out their hands for handouts they don't deserve. Thank you for this awesome poem.

Wow,this is really something. Throughout the whole time I was reading your poem I was thinking that it has great rhythm and it'll probably make a great song. It's very emotional and it sure shows your skills for transmitting that emotion. Great poem! :)
