This sounds terribly sad, it is leaving me grieving for one I knew only a short while. I understand from where you are coming, but am still saddened by your departure...Make it brief, restful and invigorating. Your writing has much to teach, nurture, reward and give to others.

Not my departure, no, it is the exit of another that I mourn. Before she completely evaporates, check out the stories that our number author of short works, Susan, Realist101, has in her portfolio.

Oh, my apologies, and thank you.

This was a pleasant piece to read. It made me think of the dozens of people I remember reading, now asking myself, "Where did they go?" Sadly, many do leave because of passing, and most of us will never be the wiser. It's unfortunate that many who come here do seem to find pain, but I must admit that it makes me wonder a bit more about what their expectations must've been. Many really do seem like such infants when it comes to sharing their work and dealing with negative and/or harsh feedback. Perhaps FS should post something that would give new members a heads up on what they MAY expect sometimes from members who are either insensitive or in a funky mood from time to time. There are some things one can learn vicariously, ya know? Let members see some examples of "negative" reviews, followed by discourse explaining how they should react to it. Because it really does seem like some of these "infants" don't realize things like "It's only one opinion" or "You can't please everyone" or my personal favorite: "Idiots do exist." LOL
Nice post, Ingrid. As usual.

A while back I suggested to one of the many Toms who respond, a mentor program and liklely, by the sounds of itthey ight have implemented it, and asked if I'd head it up, but my answer was pretty easy. I never have or can rule by committee.
Somepeople come in with hunger without ever understanding their cravings or what satisfies them and no one can address that issue.
As always, it is a pleasure to chat with you, read and dream. ingrid...oh, by the way, I am aware of at least one member who is madly in love with you.

Okay...well since it seems you're sworn to secrecy, I guess I'll start keeping a closer tab on my sixer count. LOL
-
Well have no fears, my devotion to you is still based on appreciation of your skill set and gifts. The lust comes from farther away. Don't guard anything...you're doing jusy fine.
-
Oh gawd, Ingrid! I didn't think it was you. Besides, you don't strike me as the "keep to the shadows" type about anything. :)
-
Still, nice to know somebody has the hots for you, isn't it? Sorry, I'm having a grand old time with the imaginary coupling of two very talented people.

Well, my wife still does or she's one hellava faker. (Pun intended.) :)

I'm out here...for anyone who wants to say howdy! :D Love to you my friend. x. Susan

thank you so much for your very personal experience of this website. This piece of writing has increased my interest and my dedication to participating with other authors who are looking for themselves in the words we share with others. Your little article makes that desire so real as to be tangible. Maybe your friend dropped off the site because she wanted to concentrate on writing for other arenas. I find this site so satisfying that I sometimes neglect my own major piece of writing. Thank you for your insight

I think I l know why she is dismissing herself, but for you it is an opportunity to forge new frendships, accept other points of view and celebrate your own joy with language. Don't get disouraged and thank your for your very generous bouquet of stars.

I know who this is for as well. I'll miss her too - she's a wonderful writer.
A very sincere and moving post, Ingrid. I too wondered what happened to Captain Jack. I hope he didn't die!
There's one or two writers I followed who have gone or eased off on their posts.
One (a fellow Canuck) I keep in touch with off site, and she sends me the amazing chapters of her book by email.
I'm sure this lady you refer to will totally appreciate this lovely post.

She let Ted beat her down, but then again, I don't think she ever accepted her writing for herself and on her own terms. Of course you know who she is.
