Your words captured the feeling of loss and loneliness. You followed the rules, had great flow and good content. Having lost my mother many years ago, yes this is what it feels like.

Very emotional and very profoundy. The imagery of cold empty sheets really set up the very innovative and confessional style of your piece. Fantastic. Reminds me of the old Simon and Garfunkel song "The Sounds of Silence" because of your mentioning that this silence was as deafening as the roar of an electric guitar or an ear bleeding scream. Great job with the poetry.

Thank you Justin for the review of my poem and for the encouragement of the six stars. I have always loved Simon and Garfunkel and especially that song. I had forgotten about it until now. Thank you for the reminder.

I hope this is a work of imagination, not experience. I must say, it seems very real. You have captured that aspect of bereavement which hurts most of all - out of habit, expecting the other person to appear or do something, only to realize it's never going to happen. Well done.

Thank you Rondeno for your kind review. No, I have not personally lost my spouse. I lost my brother to cancer and I was writing from the perspective of his wife and from my mothers when she lost my dad.

The loss of a loved one produces the worst kind of loneliness, one that cannot be filled by anyone. Your poem speaks well of this loss and how hard it can be.

Papabearua, I appreciate your review of my poem. Yes, loneliness can show its face many ways but to me the worst kind is the loss of a loved one (spouse).

That must be an unbearable feeling. I've felt like this at times, but not because of a deceased spouse. Conveys the emotion of loneliness really well. Very sad. Good job

I just read another one for this entry, and both of you have really taken an original and creative approach to the subject. Great imagery here of the weather that correlates to the sadness of a loved one passing. So far, you have my vote. Holly
