Where Is God?

Excellent piece. We all wonder this, "Where are you, God? And why?" I have come to terms with this a long time ago, He loves us and want us with Him but we are clearly on our own until then. I see it this way, He didn't do crap for His own Son. He granted Him no special privileges, awarded Him nothing in favor. Not even when Jesus was on the cross did He intervene. So why in the crap would we think He would ever do anything for any of us or any living thing, for that matter. I find it hard to rationalize and hopefully it will turn out better in the end. But for now, we're on our own. Again, great write. /Ron

Hi Ron! Thank you again for this kind and most thoughtful review...it's very open and honest and I really appreciate that. We will not know, until the day we die...? Thank you again Ron. Susan

What a stunning photo.
Superb use of cabbaged as a verb
This is a moving, thoughtful, heartfelt essay. Many people feel this way at least from time to time but most of them are not brave enough to own up to the feelings. Brooke

Hi Brooke! Thank you so much. I was truly stunned at this picture...i have never seen anything like it and had to express my feelings after having a cry. :/ Thank you again. I'm so glad you understand Brooke!... xoxo. Susan

Your picture choice is the epitome of dark and lonely, alon with your description of the "tiny throw-away"--I hope your week brightens. Your use of "cabbaged" is quite inventive. You have outdone yourself by following up your "soul" winning entry with another winner. -Joan

hi Joan! Thank you so very much...I just can't get over this photo. I wish I could send it to every politician, every church...but it's 'just a cat'...so. Well, you know what would happen. This little fella to me, represents all who are down, humans and animals alike. There are too many in the world. I'm so honored by your thoughtful words Joan. Thank you again...xoxo. Susan

Thank you for being on the side of the underdog or should I say "undercat." Happy weekend- Joan

Hi, Susan. You've expressed, beautifully, some of my own feelings about God. It is very difficult to continue to hold to the belief that there's some grand, mysterious plan that we all will learn when we make it to heaven. I think God is at least as intelligent as you are, so must be deliberately obtuse not to see the unfairness you see. Your picture was perfect, my friend. Love, Bev

Hi Bev...I sure get upset at God, that's for sure. This pix undid me too. Have you ever seen a cat look so human??? I can't believe anyone can think animals do not have souls, or real feelings. Even tho a bit different...not much.? Oh...and it's not just animals...we let our own kind suffer such too. It's so WRONG. I could rant for an hour. So, i'll shut up after a heartfelt thank you dear Bev...thanks for understanding...hugs and love too. Susan

You're welcome, my friend. Have you read any of Pema Chodron's books? What you are doing is taking in the pain of the world - one of the ways a Buddhist can attain enlightenment called boddhichitta. Her book on the subject is 'The Places that Scare You'. Simple and deeply powerful.
Hugs, Bev

Well, Suse, you know God created the world in six days, right? And then took the seventh day off. Well, those were 'God days', not people days. My theory is that God is still on the seventh day. Ain't he going to be surprised and disappointed when he wakes up?
Peace, Lee

Hey there, Lee...I'll be confused 'til the day I die...there are so many versions and different takes on God, that there's no way I'll ever settle on one way of thinking. SO, I try to be nice, and hope there is no Hell. I don't know what else to do. I just get so upset at the gap between the rich and the poor. This photo sort of represents people too I guess. Anyway, thank you for reading this ... I'll try to cheer up. :o) x. Suse

I agree with you. One more thing. The wealth in the churches ... need I say more. Gold, palaces, collection plates, etc. Bent minds, buying their way to heaven, die before they realize the truth. We are on our own and each others only hope.
Thank you for the face of this small creature. It could easily be the face of a human. It has the same expression of pain and suffering.
Where is our humanity?

Hi there!! Thank you so very much. I still can't believe this photo...it's so sad...and could represent a person too. We fail as humans when the little things go by the wayside. I'm very grateful for your thoughts...hugs! Susan

This is very powerful, and the reason for that is the sincerity with this is written. Many of wonder at such waste of life, and why it is put here to begin with only to be tossed away. And yes why do some have so much, and others so little. This a good way to remind us all to think of not only tossed animals but humans as well..
