I am still trying to perfect the style, but I doubt I will ever totally understand all the nuances. I loved your 5-7-5. Great use of alliteration in heck/haiku. Perhaps this could also count as a senryu which is humorous and ironic, lol. I think you will strike a chord with many who become confused with all the rules. Well done.

Thank you... glad you liked it. You are right about the name. About 90% of people call ALL 5-7-5's haikus (which are about nature) and have never heard the word senyru (humanity). So, since you are technically correct, it can squeeze by. :)

Lol.. Love the wit Phyllis, I don't care much for this style so found your poem funny, the girl looking at the card like where is it cracks me up, you expressed well in few words and made it a humorous read, thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest..

Straight forward and to the point I'd say, for someone who likes longer poems. It follows the haiku structure, a novel way to say what you feel.

Thank you, and yes, to me these little things are waayyyy too easy to count as art. Just my opinion, of course.

Phillis my friend, I am sure you have heard the phrase, "Every thing is fair in love and war,"--the same is true for poetry, you have a license to murder, love the wit/humor of your write, thanks for sharing.

Charming, and great title too. Why NOT have a little fun. Life's too short to take this stuff too seriously. Besides, it's basically a whimsical exercise anyway, I love the photo. How often do we all feel that way?

Thank you! Good to know I'm not the only one who doesn't take art so seriously!

I liked it very much. Short and to the point. The words fit the expression on the face of the woman in the picture thus solidifying it all together real nicely. Her holding a blank piece of paper depicts the overall opinion of anyone who doesn't like poetry and wouldn't waste the time of day trying to write it let lone read it. This deserves five very easily. Very good.

Thank you, Frank! Glad you liked it. I was a bit hesitant, since haikus are revered by many. But I put in my notes that it was all in fun. :)

LOL
I like the Hauiku poems as they can be very effective and funny to read and review...Just like this one that you have penned today...However I think that they should receive a different rating, from say a chapter of a story ...Not fair for the ratings and for those that spend all day on a crown sonett...or a longfellow...
Cheers Well Done...Ron

I have to agree with you on that, but keep in mind that they ONLY count in the poem category. Still, I've sweated over some pretty long poems! Thx for reading!
