Wow, what a coincidence--I just wrote a poem for the free-verse contest, which I'll probably post next late week, since there's still the Valentine's contest in between, entitled "Too Many Why's". We are soul mates!!

Hurley's remarks certainly are a bit jarring, given the context, making James concluding they are "absurd" on target! I also especially liked the description of squeezing "all the air out" his lungs. He certainly verbalizes clearly what's on the public's mind. I think I remember most of this chapter--it just seems more emotional in this reading. -Joan

Yes, we are definitely soul mates. I just made a few minor changes to this chapter. The big ones come a bit later. Glad you liked it.

I found my back to your story and once again I was pleased I had your story line continues to intrigue. Your ask all the right questions and thankfully you have given them no easy answers thanks for that and James is right people always want to know how could live with the devil and not be dancing in hell. Thanks again for a nice well thought out read

What you say is so true. People assume you (the family) had to know something, but sadly that is not true. The family is usually the last to know.

what a poignant scene between James and Charlie
I really like the paragraph about 650,000 words
I also like James's commentary about the moon
Panting like a dog, I fought for just one deep breath of air; but my lungs - I added the semicolon
small gulp at a time; barely enough - change that semicolon to a comma
A moving scene between mother and son at paragraph's conclusion Brooke

You did a wonderful job showing the emotion the family is going through. I can't imagine how hard this is to write, but you are doing a wonderful job.
