Thanks for sharing this very educational article. It was very interesting and well written. As for my dog, Peedy - as in my website www.PeedysWorld.com - while he may not detect cancer - there is no doubt that he plays a major role in my life.

You explain the dog's enhanced olfactory sense extremely well, and the pizza example is a perfect way to illustrate it.
It is just amazing that a dog can detect cancer.

This is amazing. I have a sister who is a dog trainer and she too has mentioned this before. What I did not know was that it could be up to 99% accurate. I would forgo a Cat scan any day in preference to a dog scan. LOL. Your story flows great. It stays focused and is very informative.

A great read. Very clever construction. You draw us into the story by a dog pilfering food - allowing you to introduce the dog's nose! Give us a case history with the British woman, then go a bit deeper into the medical aspects. Never dwelling too long on technical issues. Keeps the interest alive, and makes for an easy and informative read.
Top marks. A class act for this genre.

A great read. Very clever construction. You draw us into the story by a dog pilfering food - allowing you to introduce the dog's nose! Give us a case history with the British woman, then go a bit deeper into the medical aspects. Never dwelling too long on technical issues. Keeps the interest alive, and makes for an easy and informative read.

I love how you started the store in a humorist way than got serious. I have hear and saw this on television I thought it was marvelous. That t dogs could sense cancer. There must be many thankful people living to day because of one sniffing dog. Boy I wish I knew where to get a a dog like that to tell me in 2006 my daughter had a brain tumor maybe she would be alive today. Thank you for sharing

Hi, buddy. Isn't it wonderful that, once again, dogs are proving to be woman's best friend. The story on 60 minutes was from a few years ago and I was amazed how much more is being done since that story was aired. They are also training them to detect seizures, hypoglycemia and other diseases. Your beautiful, supportive words mean so much, Vicki - you are an awesome writer, so I really value your opinion! I don't know what I'd do without my dog, she is my company and loyal friend. I might start seeing where she sniffs. Oh man now I'm setting myself up for a come back and laughing too. I hate those dogs that stick there nose where it doesn't belong. Oh see now I'm getting on a roll. On a serious note it's just almost an aha thing about the fact that dogs would be able to detect cancer, right I mean why didn't people think of it before now? No Bev I'm a struggling writer. :) XO
