I like the part where James challenged him to lie and said "I find it hard to believe that being a lawyer you have never lied before." He has his number (and most all other lawyers, too.)

My grandfather was a criminal attorney and he often stated that lawyers were the best liars he ever had the pleasure to know. I am pleased you enjoyed this one.

Another great chapter.
Good descriptions.
I like the dialogue.
Feels so real.
Suspenseful.
Love how you ended the chapter making us wonder what will happen next, so get moving girl! Post the next chapter! lol!
One spag: 10 paragraphs from the bottom, first line: I think you need to insert the word "a" before the word "door"
Great job.
Katie

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

Great minds think alike, that's why people seldom agree. Our stories are very close but at the same time very different. Your story takes a lighter tone (kind of :P) at least with the genius protagonist by trying to catch a murderer at great personal costs. Wheres mine is a genius who orchestrates murder at great personal cost.

You are right, I hadn't thought of that. Opposite sides of the same coin. Thanks so much for the awesome 6 stars, I sincerely appreciate it.

Wow, Sasha, this is really interesting. James again proved how intelligent he is. He can be a great lawyer! You also describe Hurley's no-nonsense character well. This section reminds me of the serial Criminal Minds which plunges into the minds of killers, and now I have a vivid picture of James in my mind (as the younger man of the investigators, with long hair and 'keen' face).

Thanks, I am thrilled you liked this one. I see James as the actor Shia LaBeouf (pronounces Shy-a LaBuff...)

OOhh you are making us wait to find out what is in the letters! I pounced on your post sure we would discover the contents but aaagh you are making us wait. James, I understand, is very torn about the contents - he wants to know and yet he doesn't. Mr Hurley seems a very likeable person an he never talks down to James or dismisses his questions as impertinent. Now James has revealed what he knows, I think he may be a bit more lenient and open with him, especially once they have discovered what is in the letters. I am glad that James has someone with him when he discovers the content. xxmouse

The is an emotionally and intelligently charged chapter that draws the reader in. Very well done. I don't think that this chapter is in need of any more work that I can see. It is fast paced, reads well and packed with surprises. Good job.

I judge whether to read a book by the way I am drawn in to the plot. This definitely drew me in. Your characterization was excellent, I watched the two men as they walked around each other metaphorically like two roosters preparing to fight. I also came away with a feel that the young man had won. You drew out the tension by making James wait nearly an hour before he even got his interview. I am not familiar with US law, but it was not necessary that I am to understand the conflict in both their minds
I cannot fault the writing so I say carry on with it, I would like to learn more.

Another great chapter. As I am certain I have said before, this story line really keeps me intrigued. The mystery hooks on the end just keep me coming back for more.

Well, at least James appears to have someone else on his side. I can't wait to hear what's in those letters. I mean, how much worse can it get? I shouldn't ask the question, should I? LOL Waiting for the next one!

You are right, every time James says, "How much worse can it get?" it gets worse. Hope to post another chapter tomorrow.
