Those poor kids and what they are going through is heart-wrenching. It's just not fair to make a criminal's family suffer for the bad deeds of the criminal, but that's the way it works ... human nature. So sad. You make the dialogue seem so believable as if you are listening in on their conversation.

Sadly, you are right. The families suffer far more than most people realize.

It is so sad how poorly these families are treated. I am pleased you enjoyed this one.

Excellent chapter. When you said you'd deal with Billie's interview by the press later, you weren't fooling around. What a lowlife!

Yes, Billy is a lowlife...it's amazing what people will do for their 15 minutes of fame.

I am always amazed at how many people will sell out anyone they know to get their fifteen seconds of fame.
What Susan's boyfriend did here, is all too typical. A very sad comment on human behavior.
In the entertainment business ... no information is confidential ... attorneys, accountants, bankers, masseuses, dentist, friends ... everyone seems to gossip to raise their own profile.
You hit a nerve with this one.

I don't know if I mentioned it but I had a very bad experience with the media a few years back and I still have a bad taste in my mouth. I know there are good ones, but the bad ones ruin it for all of them. Glad you liked this one.

No,I don't know the story of you and the media.

One of these days I'll write a story about it. It is actually very interesting.

How did the boys get out of the hotel without the media being all over them? Did I miss something?
The characters' mannerisms are consistent and authentic. I loved this line: "The 'and' is gone forever isn't it?"
It really does feel like the reader is a fly on the wall, privy to everything as it happens. Exciting, heartbreaking, real!
Love, love, love this!

They are registered under the name of Mr. Hurley's secretary. Although the media has their photographs, the father face is the most recognizable. So far, the media does not know where they are. Glad you like this. I made a lot of changes from the first draft and think this is going to be a lot more exciting.

While my eyes were still blurred from reading the touching conversation between James and Charles, I got the shock of what happens to Susan! Fantastic chapter.

That was my hope. I wanted to start slow and end with a bang. Thanks so much for the marvelous 6 stars.

It was too early for lunch, causing me to wonder
As we approached the font door -front
next to a bloddy bread knife - bloody
In a loud, firm voice said, I said
I like the pacing of this chapter, from the slow, quiet stroll to the highly dramatic discovery of the newspaper article to the suicide scene - excellent dialogue throughout Brooke

This is just one of the many changes I made in this book. Glad you like the pace. Thanks for catching the spags too.
