That way, if I have to shoot Boudreaux, the blood won't get on the carpet.I liked this sentence a lot. It made me laugh. Great chapter.

Okay, this story is moving along nicely. I particularly liked the cliff-hanger ending. One question. I was under the impression Dax would be staying in the barn/studio, as opposed to the main house. Did I miss something?
Peace, Lee

Hi Lee - in one of the past chapters, Beth decided that this was the South, and in the South, watch dog's didn't sleep outside, they slept in the "big house". Thanks for reading and your kind words. Regards, Bill

My mistake, Bill. Thanks for setting me straight. I must have missed a chapter.

What in the hell is this guy up to? - add question mark
Yeah, I do, Dax - add the second comma for direct address
You do a great job of building suspense in the beginning of this chapter and then a sense of intrigue once they start talking to the intruder. And you end with a good cliffhanger, to top it all off. Excellent dialogue, too :-) Brooke

I always love it when I am going thru chapters for review when the author takes the time to give background info on the book and characters. Helps me to see the whole picture. This chapter is well written and obviously well edited I did not see any mistakes. It was an easy read and flowed very smoothly. Enjoyed it.

Well my friend...
All I can say is that it takes a special talent to write this kind of material.... And I couldn't do it........
You seem to know alot about this whole world, and if you don't, it really comes across that you do..... Every chapter gets deeper and deeper, and better and better.....
I always look forward to what will happen next!
Love it! Bryan

I love this story, and this chapter is a very scary-good read. I'm not sure about Gus--I mean he did cross to the other side, so it seems he would be looking out for his own interest instead of Beth's. I'm eager to read how Dax handles this situtation.

Hi Shirley - I'm glad you stopped by too! If you haven't read from the beginning, a few minutes to read chapters 1 and 2 would throw you right in the mix. My fingers will be crossed for the Sooners this weekend!

Pretty close to perfect. Good job. Good plot and good characters.
Dax looked at Beth. "Beth?" (Too many Beths, try: Dax looked at her. "Beth?")

You have a good mystery.thriller going here. This is very well written with good character development. It seems like Dax will have to deal with an old acquaintance. Good job.
