I love this piece and the personification
of the Scarecrow is done cleverly and
with humor.
Great natural fitting rhyme and your
rhythm befits the tone of the poem.
Nice job. I enjoyed it.

jlsavell, I really like this. Love the picture of the
scarecrow from Over the Rainbow. A poor scarecrow's life
must not be easy. Hopefully the wizard will grant his wish.

A great extension of what Scarecrow went to see the Wizard of Oz for. I could almost imagine this being encompassed into Dorothy's story.
Good one. Thanks for sharing.

Very well written poem about a scarecrow wishing with all of his might for something he already possesses---a heart and a brain. As in "The Wizard of Oz" story, all of the unlikely seekers had brains, courage, and heart---they just needed someone to point it out. Best wishes, Hector

Interesting take on the scarecrow as lonely. Your poem brings on the forelorn and dismal lot attributed to the scarecrow...but he does have a plan.

This is just a wonderful poem about the scarecrow hanging around so lonely and a great discription of how he looks and his dreams about being alive. Maybe change to 'dapper style?' The whoe thing makes one smile.

I think the second stanza summarizes the scarecrow's purpose in 'life' although he has "no heart, no brain, no legs" I like that the story is spoken from his perspective.
I enjoyed the abab rhyme scheme as this scarecrow story was told. Good use of alliteration in the first and second stanza.
And... to let you know! you have many places of perfect iambic meter (though not consistent, but either way, it has a great flow and rhythm). Here are examples:
"but I uphold the orchard's law"
"No crow will feast upon man's land,"
"to while the hours as harvest ghost"
"I have no heart, no brain, no legs
My hat is not of dappers style
Unshaved I am with haggard dregs
But still I wear a cheerful smile" - this whole stanza has perfect iambic tetrameter!
"Your life is easy, filled with joy"
hmmm... I'm not sure I'd want a scarecrow to actually come to life, but the thought is interesting :) Great job! All the best, Jen
