Thank you for the expressive review.

I am going to venture to comment on this poem. I say venture because the content is new to me. Also, although I like to write poetry, I really am quite ignorant of the technicalities of poetic form and your exposition of the form of the poem, identifying the strophe, the antistrophe and the epode was quite helpful to me. Even though unfamiliar with the content, the poem held my interest at first but, it is so carefully and tightly structured, with fairly routine Stanzas all the way through, I began to lose interest in it. I know it is a form of religious poetry and as such I think it very good.
Also it was my first introduction to anything Muslim.

Sorry that this was less than overwhelming to you. The prescribed form is an 'ode' which is a classic form of poetry from long ago, but very much alive today in music and in rhyme

I am not an expert on the Qur'an, but I appreciated reading the poem anyway. The final comments were highly useful and ended up having me go back and re-read the poem. So, they were also effective. Thanks for sharing.

The parable of the light from the Qur'an is one of the most beautiful descriptions of what it means to be Muslim. Muslims accept that God sends parables so that they can understand, because we cannot experience God as a fact, object, or thing. We can only know God through parables and manifestations from the prophets. Most religions acknowledge this to some extent.

I extremely enjoyed reading this poem. what attracted me most is the picture that you used. the poem is comprehensive in the first reading. the poem was interesting enough to make me read what was coming next.alternative use of end rhymes drew a lot of attention and gives a very lyrical effect while reading it.

I am happy to get your review. I believe that you are the only muslim to comment on it so far. It is what I get from the parable of the light in Qur'an. Salaam Sadiqui (Peace my friend).

A very powerful poem. I read very slow and it seemed that The Light you talk about in here came to surround me, entirely. Great experience reading this uplifting work.

Be careful, this is not supposed to proselytizing. It is not intended to entice anyone to Islam, but an attempt to show that the spiritual depths of all religions are truth and God, not the ritual or the symbolic fanaticism we sometimes succumb to. Glad it appealed to you as an ode. Thank you for the review. BTW: I, too, believe there is a Light of Reason.

PS Read my comments and especially the quoted passage from the Qur'an, The Parable Of The Light.

I like your work. I like how you express your ideas. I like inspirational works. But sometimes, I confess, it gets too deep for me. My loss.

It's a good poem and shows the wisdom of many years. You really get your message across well and the message can be passed on through many different religions as well.

I am glad you see that it was intended to be somewhat ecumenical without proselytizing. It should bring out the the truth as the religious intent.

Yu have done an excellent job with sound and meter in this poem. The construction flows so well and you relay such an interesting story of God and the Light of Allah. I thoroughly enjoyed this poetic. Rose.

My guide was excellent, Ode to Joy, and I kept the rhythm of that masterpiece, so I pass on the kudo to Beethoven. But the message is the light of God, rather than ritual duty in religion.

PS Also Schiller who wrote the German lyrics to the Ode to Joy.

Thank you. I am glad that a reader "...of any religion..." would find this satisfying. I always worry, with the common stereotyping of Muslims as terrrorists. Except for the fanatics, any religion should 'satisfying' even if not understood. Islam is certainly not understood in America, though it is the fastest growing religion in America. This contest was to dispel the bad press.

You are welcome.
I think the moslim terrorist fear comes from the extremists alone and not the majority of logical peace fearing moslims.
the christians are extremist too simply not as publicised.
so are atheist practioners extremist and gay bashers.
i think the common unity is respect and understanding.
I myself think religion should be an honest search for truth and not a fad everyone is following.
have a good day.
