Abusers hit and then love to make the abused one feel like it was their fault for making them hit. How sick is that? They are sick and my hope is women can get away from this vicious cycle of abuse. Good imagery and you caught abuse just right. Keep writing.

Thanks Nicole, yes, "sick" is a great way to describe it. A terrible situation to be caught up in and one that is soooo prevalent today, sadly. I thank you kindly for your thoughtful words and lovely rating.

It seems that abuse is on the increase. There are so many reasons for this, but none of them excuse it. The emotions speak loudly in this poem, and I can hear all the voices so clear. Good luck with the contest. ann

Thank you so much Ann - and yes, it definitely is on the increase. I shudder to think of the thousands of women who suffer silently every day.....and no one knows...sometimes until after it's too late. Thanks for your thoughtful words and lovely rating.
