What a melancholy, yet delightful
story, Carol - you are such a natural
with your story-telling - you pull the
reader in right away and keep hold of
their interest throughout.
I stretched lazily, and then like so many mornings,
I stretched lazily and then, like so many mornings, anniversaries, and, oh yeah
anniversaries and, oh yeah
(")Please, Katie
I pushed my body up(.)
Just lovely.
Margaret.

A very well written story of hope, survival, strength and courage. I couldn't imagine having to deal with three children all alone so-to-speak. Grandparents can be a big help but they can only do so much.
Well done, Buck

This is a marvelous beginning to what could be a terrific book. I enjoyed your delightful descriptions of the joy of being pregnant. You conveyed the sadness of her tragic loss very well. This is a great entry for the contest and I sincerely wish you all the best.

This is simple marvelous. I felt like I was walking in her shoes, even having them on the wrong feet. Out of bad times can comes good ones, but how do we find those good ones. I think her children, and father, with help her. Great job.

Oh, this one tugged at the heartstrings, Carol. As always, beautifully portrayed throughout. "anniversaries, and, oh yeah, the night I told you I didn't really have the flu. We celebrated with grape juice and crackers. We hoped I was carrying a son" I don't think the "oh yeah" as if an afterthought for her telling her beloved James she was pregnant, was believable. I think I might consider dropping the "yeah". just a thought excellent

This is great story which I've read before so my review won't count but I glad you revived it.
This story reminded me of my grandmother who was left in just that situation. She had a little girl and her husband was killed just after she found out she was pregnant again. She was forced to move back near her parents as well. You've captured emotions that I'm sure are true to life. I enjoyed reading his.

This was a great read. You described the pregnancy so well it brought up memories. The shoes on the wrong feet was a nice twist. With a big belly you cannot see your feet so it is very believable.

This is a lovely story. Very sad of course, but also very sweet. It very cleverly emphasized the innocence of children and the way a simple message can affect our perceptions.

Hi Carol,
You certainly have a way with words. I was glued to your story. Your word pictures astound me with their clarity and direction. It's a delight to read your work as I never find mistakes and the flow is always right on. I've only run across one story that wasn't quite up to par and didn't comment on it, but I don't remember what it was.
Well done. pat
