I love old barns too. And I think there's something in all of us (at least us older folks - lol) that relates to these old structures. Your poem flows nicely, is well rhymes, and was a pleasure to read.
Warmly,

Thank you Lee, I'm glad you stopped by to review this. Most people who have reviewed this say they like them. My family thinks I'm the only one.

I enjoyed this piece which flows well and describes your fascination with barns. I like old things as they have history and can stir the imagination.
I guess we never should forget where we come from either, that's as important to our journey here as the now and the future. Good job.

A lovely tribute to a building which dots much of the countryside. We have few (or no) barns in our area of the Southwest. I agree that they are a wonder in themselves.

Thank you so much for the review and comments. I am surprized to know there are no barns around your part of the world. I thought they were everythere.

Have you ever visited Lancaster County/Pennsylvania Dutch country, Beth? They have the best barns ever. They have hex signs on the side of them that are among the world's best folk art.
YOur poem in rhyming couplets has good flow, strong rhymes and explains your love of old barns beautifully :-) Brooke

Yes, I have visited Lancaster County. I was amazed at the barns there. They are very different from barns in the south. Some of them are nicer than the houses. I just wish I'd had a digital camera when I was there. Thanks for the review and comments.

I'm with you, Beth. I love old barns and old houses. I take my camera with me when I go out (I live in rural Maryland) and am getting quite a collection.
I like your poem. I like the line, "I see the charm in rustic things"... That speaks to my soul. Well done, pat

Very pretty piece about waxing nostalgic for nostalgia.
In you last quatrain, you transposed "a" and "just." I also believe that it is "who" and not "whom".
Sincerely,
Curt

Curt, Thank you so much for the review and for noticing the spag with the a. I have a problem knowing when to use who or whom. I thought whom was an object of the very made. I could be wrong.

Sweet and simple, like a country girl!
Loved the second stanza read aloud---great flow and nice consonance on P sounds in first two lines and C sounds in last two.
Perhaps something in my distant past
produced an imprint sure to last.
I see the charm in rustic things
and my artistic soul takes wings.
Very good job and no nits!
Nice picture presentation too.
Love, rd

Well done, Beth...the rhymes satisfy, the flow is smooth, and the sentiment intimate and appealing. The romantic lure of old buildings ... barns, country churches, carriage houses etc...has always held a fascination for me too. It is as though they all have stories to tell and are calling to the writer in me to come closer, know them and hear the stories so I can tell them. Even as a child they called to me. But I digress...your poem is lovely and evokes warm positive feelings. Good job.
