Woah! What an incredible nanni. The dual image is great and thought-provoking. But, gee, didn't you know this new administration is our savior? Hmm. Or maybe not. My son thanked my granddaughter the other day for the loan. Syd, 5, asked what she'd loaned him. 'Your paychecks for the rest of your life, via the government,' he replied. She was lost, of course. Unfortunately, her generation will not be able to make up for what we're donig to them now. You cpatured that well. Blessings, Deb

And before they feel the pinch, we are going to feel the steely knives of inflation. Putting that much money into circulation is going to be worse than the 1970's. Thank you so much for your highest review of this piece. Your 6 stars are SO appreciated!! Sue - best to you!

We in Australia are truly concerned about our own government stimulus packages They are literally handing out thousands of dollars to try and create spending. Australia is not as badly off as America as yet but with our Labour Party in power that may change as in the past they always seem to get us in to bigger debt. We are watching America closely and are concerned for all of us. Your Naani is short and to the point. Good luck in the competition.

I think John Howard would have been much more fiscally responsible. Hoping things work better for you down there. Thanks for your review. Sue

I hold your sentiments. America is being destroyed right before our very eyes. Most of the people that support this are those who are looking for a handout. But I won't get started LOL This was very well written. I found nothing that needs improvement. Well done. :)

Poor Sue - Are you just now figuring out the U.S. government is the worse lunatic in the world? I'm sorry ... I've been saying this for years. But I guess I will have to admit that it has become even more apparent in the past few months. Anyway, no need for any corrections on your Naani - good work.

Are you kidding me? I was around when Nixon had to resign! At my age, I've seen it all. Had to wait in line for gas in '73 for hours. But the current spending packages?? Worst on record. Unheard of. A power-grab of the worst kind. I'm pissed now! Thanks for your review. Sue :-)

Yeah - me, too - saw it all - we're probably about the same age. Worst I am remember. So what are we trying to do? We're trying to buy a business ... go figure. Can't resist the price of the building, now just got to shop for a loan! Well, my dad always said I didn't know how to dream small. Guess he's right.

    Wish me luck - sherry

Hats off to you! If you have the guts, go for it. Commercial real estate has been hit bad. What type of business??

Believe it or not, we've put in an offer on a high school (and the field house across the street) that's been closed since the early eighties. Beautiful (?!?) three story brick building that needs 2/3's of the window glass replaced and the asbestos removed from the boiler room. It's got a huge auditorium with a stage and a mezzanine, hard wood floors in part of the rooms, etc. After we get the pigeons and the accompanying pigeon poop out of the building, there is still LOTS of work before it's usable.

The field house, however, is why we are trying to buy the place. We think that within a month to six weeks of closing on the property we can have it open as a roller skating rink / family entertainment center (we're ex-National Class competitive roller skaters & owned a rink about nine years ago). It's quite a bit smaller than what we are used to skating on, but it's a small town (a bit over 5000 people), so it will be ok.

The church had reduced the price for the whole property (school and field house) from $97,000 to $45,000 plus all closing costs; it should end up costing us about $50,000. We're going to set us up an "apartment" in the field house til we can renovate the school building into 8 or 10 condo-type units - one of them ours.

Sorry to babble - I'm pretty psyched about the whole thing. Now I've just got to find someone to finance the deal ...

    wish us luck - sherry

I am so WOWED!!! What a unique idea!! How many square feet available for condos?
And how many condos do you think you can get out of it?

This is an idea I have never heard of and this is quite entrepreneurial of you!!!
And for $50,000!!! Good for you that you've got this exciting project to work on!!

I did a 50 acre home subdivision a few years ago from scratch and it was the most exciting thing I ever did in business. It's beautiful. All done now. Wish I could do something else in business right now.

Keep me updated on your progress!!! Would love to know how it all goes.
    Bravo for you!!

You are certainly great at picking the topics you write about. As one on social security it is almost as scary as all the middle and low income people losing everyting while we bail out big business. Totally agree with your words. joan marie

I'm a capitalist. And I'm pissed about government bailing out corporations because that is corporate welfare and it ruins the name of capitalism and could hurt our free markets. And all that money could have gone directly to the people who need it most. It's all so convoluted. Thanks for your review. Sue

It scares me too. I depend on the government for the only income I will ever have unless I get motivated and start submitting my work again. I see so many people in need. It pisses me off too. I think more shelters for battered women, etc. is a much more productive way. America the greatest country in the world is falling apart. jm

I was just writing a poem on the same subject but on a personal level. Your poem nails it dead. But it sure scares me about the constitution. I don't know what we can do except keep writing poems that bring it to the attention of the world. It can make a difference. Great Stuff!

So much harm done in such a short time. The US is fast fading into the twilight as the rest of the world laughs at us. Your poem signifys a wake-up call that will not be heeded by those in power.

This all could backfire on the executive and legislative bodies. Hoping it backfires on them to where they are tossed out on all their asses in 2010. Voting out ALL incumbents can send the biggest message of all; that we are the "We the People". Big hopes! Thanks for your review. Sue

Very good naani entry with substantial and important information for everyone to know. It is difficult to understand how we (Government) can continue to pass such outrageous financial packages!!! AIG bailout was the worst...what they did with a good chunk of that change is unfathamable, to say the least...good luck and hugs and smiles, Susanne

You have the structure and the syllables and you are certainly commenting on current affairs and stating your point powerfully - a strong naani. Brooke

Great job on this naani Sue. You always manage to say something that means something, rather than just words. It's very fitting and current. Great job. Good luck in the contest.

What's going on now on the Hill and at the White House is outrageous to the point of criminal. They have broken constitutional law. The very thing they swear to protect when they get into office. I have a feeling that the 2010 elections are going to be a big sign from America. Vote off each and every incumbent in office. Especially the ones who have been there for years, entrenched in corruption. Our only hope. Thanks for your review. Sue
