This is a very good contest entry Sue. I keep forgetting to check out the contests and so many times they're affordable or just a really fun challenge. Very fun piece with a great final line and lots of informative author's notes. well done

I'm a sucker for the contests. No just for a win, but the challenge to stay within the rules. Thanks so much for your compliments! Glad you enjoyed the notes, too. Thanks, Jude :-)) Sue

Hi Sue,
I love this one. It's a great entry to the contest. I just did the boring dog thing! You made a great choice of animal and I love your notes too. I was amazed by these wonderful creatures when I lived in Australia. They're just beautiful and a joy to watch. Good luck in the contest.
Warm regards.

I have a big soft spot for the kangaroo. Their eyes and eyelashes are gorgeous! And they are so unique, you could never mistake them for another creature. Thanks so much for your great review! Sue

What a great animal to write a poem about! This makes me think of the old cartoon of the kangaroo wearing boxing gloves. LOL I'd hate to be on the receiving end of a kangaroo's kick! Thanks for sharing this delightful poem with us.

What a wonderful take on the kangaroos... I have heard that they also can be very dangerous! Maybe I can borrow one to go box with my Ex... Maybe not, I don't believe in cruelty to animals or kangaroos... Great write my friend and good luck with the contest... Dreamdancer

This is so good. My uncle Red(Bob) was a famous kangaroo boxer with Joey the Boxer. They traveled all across the country and let people watch them box. Ten cents to see the kangaroo, and twenty-five to watch them box. Red also appeared in the movie: Million Dollar Mermaid with Victor Mature. Red was the stunt double who did the sparring with the roo. Interesting facts. Cheers, Don

HA!!! Are you serious?? I've always heard of it, but never first-hand! They are so strong. It's not only their jabs you have to watch, but they jump up and kick with both of those hind legs! LOL!! I'd want to get paid a heck of a lot of money for that! Thanks for telling me that story. And I'll remember to watch that film with Victor Mature. Thanks for your review, Don. :-)) Sue

Very well written poem about the boxer kangaroo. The photo went perfect and I really appreciate your author notes which educate the reader about the animal.

Hehe...I know all this - I nearly hit one in the car the other week! Nice poem, good rhythm and rhymes, and your facts are accurate. :) I'm not sure, but I think there's a typo: ""Big Red", you're name at six feet tall" - 'your'? Good luck with the contest. :)

Thanks for typo alert! Crikey, if you hit one of those, you and your car will know all about it!! HA! I love these precious creatures. Thanks for your review. As always, Sue
-
Precious? They're a bloody nuisance around here! Hit one and your radiator is toast at least. If it's a big one, you knock the legs out from underneath it and it comes through your windscreen to land in your lap. Believe me, the last thing you want in your lap is a terrified, injured kangaroo! They've actually killed people. The Big Red I nearly hit stood well above the roof of the car in height - humungous. Just some more animal facts for your file....lol
-
They're still precious! They were there first before all the bloody cars! LOL!!!
Just look into their lovely eyes with eyelashes so long. Awwwwwww.....
-
Just as well they have 'lovely eyes'....do you know why their heads are so small? Because there's not much in them! At night, they hop *towards* the headlights!! Since living here, the romance of kangaroos has worn off completely for me. :)
-
I also love salt water crocs and sharks!! So there! :-))
-
Easy to do from a safe distance, my friend. lol
-
Hey, I've been up to the Daintree and snorkeled on the reef and ran into two reef sharks. Thought I'd jump out of my skin if I ever saw one, but I was amazed at how calm I was.
Mind you, I'd NEVER get near one of those croc waterways, though! LOL!!!
-
The whole of Nth Qld is badly flooded at the moment - cyclone season. They are spotting dozens of crocs in the main streets of Townsville! Happy crocs. :)

Oh, Lord!! Grab your kids, everyone!

Thanks for the author's notes. I knew some of it as I have always wanted to visit your country. Are you going to starte an onsite book with your work about where you live? Great read. joan marie

I used to live there, now back in the states. But, it's my other "home" country. Thanks much for your great review. Always appreciated. Sue

What a great memoir book. Just my thoughts. jm

I'm going to have to compile all my works into various categories. Maybe one day I'll get around to it. Not sure....I'm a major procrastinator! HA!
-
I thought it would be hard to start an onsite book. It took about one minute after reading instructions, also short. Then all it take is to click a button to add. The only extra thing you have to do is give it a chapter number. I wait and leave poem standing alone and when certificated run out, click add to book on portfolio page. jm

Thanks so much for that great information!!
