I Googled Ezekiel 3:17 to compare with your poem. The Watchman appears to have an awesome responsibility for the people of Israel. Your line "His orders from the Master are so clear" sums it up--the Lord makes himself and the Watchman's task totally clear.
We find our inspiration from many places, and I enjoyed reading this Bible-inspired poem of yours.
You might put the verse from Ezekiel in your author's notes so that others can see exactly what your inspiration was.

Hello Pam.
I appreciate your positive feedback on the content and style. The author's notes will be updated with a verse and another section fully explaining the Watchmen's role.

Hi Dolly.
The watchman's mandate to protect and guide the people comes directly from God. I appreciate your feedback and the time you dedicated to reading my poem.

Hello Lana.
Thank you for your thoughtful, and meaningful comments about the poem. You can also read Ezekiel 33: 1-9 to see the full picture of the relationship between the Lord and the Watchman. I appreciate your time and effort.

This is a bold, creative commentary on Ezekiel 3:17 (which I did take a few minutes to read and ponder).
You examined this scenario from various perspectives: the Watchman himself, the Master who commands him; and the people who are in need of protection, and who may be afraid, yet who must also make a choice to heed the Watchman's warning.
Orders from the Master must be unambiguous and clear, for the Watchman to succeed in his task, and yet the Master is faithful to convey that clear call, and the Watchman is faithful to proclaim it. All that remains is for each of us to listen.

Great work. This is beautifully rhymed, and I love the imagery of the Watchman, guarding the wall and keeping the city safe. We have been lacking a Watchman in the U.S., just when the country needs one. People want to feel safe again. The Watchman is under God's command. Keeping people safe is an awesome task, as you indicate. Very powerful. judi

Hello Marilyn.
Thank you for your positive comments about the Watchman. The complete story of how he arose to the tower is in Ezekiel 33:1-9. This poem is merely a reflection upon his duties.

a nice retelling of the biblical injunction in Ezekiel to be a watchman for the lord.
there is a TV series based on these themes Co-PIot provided background i meant the series titled Watchmen.
Ah, got it! The TV series "Watchmen," created by Damon Lindelof and based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, doesn't have a direct connection to the biblical verse in Ezekiel. However, the show does explore themes of morality, justice, and the nature of heroism, which can be seen as loosely related to the concept of a "watchman" in a broader sense.
The show delves into complex social and political issues, including race relations and the legacy of historical events, while also incorporating elements of superhero mythology. It's a thought-provoking series that builds on the original comic's themes and adds new layers of storytelling.

Thank you for your kind words about my poem. I have written a couple of poems regarding the Watchmen in Ezekiel. I appreciate your comments on the TV series. I will have to see if I can get a look at that.
