A really nice put together. Great image and words that wrap it all together.
Thanks for sharing and I am glad this hedgehog made it across the road. So sad to have animals on the road.
Take care and have a great day.
Cheers
Barry Penfold.

At this time of year, it is so important to be careful around piles of leaf litter and deep foliage.
They are such lovely creatures and so good for the maintenance of the natural habitat.
Gorgeous creatures captured so well in this simple haiku.

I am a huge hedgehog lover. I have collectible ones all over my house and I have over 2000 images of them on my Pinterest account. That being said... I LOVE this little poem and the sweet picture you chose.

Thank you so much, Marilyn, for this kind review! That's great that you've a collection of the little fellas. There was I worried that the creature wouldn't be so widely known in the US. Take care Debbie

That is really lovely, Debbie. I'm always watchful for hedgehogs. We once had a family of them in my garden. Sometimes when we went out, I would leave some food out for our cat. One time when we did that we came home to find our cat waiting for us, she led us around the back and there were three hedgehogs eating her food. She obviously tried to get them out but their spines weren't the type she was going to fight. Lol. What a memory you have brough back for me. Loved this, my friend. Well done. :)) Sandra xx (we left the hedgehogs some food after that.)

Thank you so much, Sandra, for this lovely review and your delightful little story. I could imagine your cat being very taken aback by those intruders. One reviewer has reminded me of the importance of these leaf piles in the garden. I know we're always in a rush to clear them away without thinking.
By the way, Sandra, I thought of you with all this latest news about breakthrough treatment for asthma, sounding very positive. Cross fingers. Take care Debbie xx

We heard about that, and when I went to the hospital on Monday for my asthma appointment I asked the consultant about it. I don't qualify, it's for asthmatics who can't move around, go to work, even go for a walk. The results for those people have been incredible. It's given them a new life. Not only that, he told me that it is also being used for some cancer patients who have breast or lung cancer. The results have been amazing! They are working on other treatments for asthmatics like me, which will help me when I do have an attack. That would be great. I have been protecting myself this winter, only going out when necessary, and wearing a mask when I do. Thanks so much for thinking about me, Debbie! That was really sweet of you. 😊xx

Such a cute and cuddly picture of the hedge hog that complements your poem perfectly. I like the reference to hibernation of those that sleep out the difficulties of old man winter.

Thank you so much, Don, for this kind and thoughtful review! As long as no one start sweeping up his leaf pile, he's good for the winter! Take care Debbie

Even though small animals are sometime victimized by dangers posed by man and his machines. I believe that God has instilled in them the means by which they can protect themselves such as you pointed out in your brief and pleasing post. A departure from your usual.

Nice! I happened upon Debi's which comes right after this post and the two of you seem to have fit together like the perfect puzzle pieces in place, to create a 5/7/5 (you) and then 7/7 (Debi) Renga...

This collaborative book has been fun to follow and read. I mentioned in my review of Debi's 7/7 portion that I read often these Renga collaborations would involve up to 100 different authors!

A great way to bring together like-minded poets here on FanStory!

Very nice image!

Karenina

Thank you so much, Karenina, for your kind review! It's a fun way to come together in Gypsy's book although, I must admit, I was a bit confused in the beginning (It doesn't take much with me when I read instructions:)) Take care, Debbie

LOL--- One reason I haven't taken the leap is I'm getting a kick out of how this plays out. Some are entering complete 5-7-5-7-7 Rengas...some are entering just the first three lines and the next person is finishing with a 7-7... It must be like this when 100 or more poets take on this 700-year-old form and "collaborate" --

Anything that pulls the FS community together is a great idea in my opinion!

Dear Karenina, does this mean I've got it wrong? I thought we had to alternate between 7/7 and 5/7/5

No... I sure don't think so!
