My sister used to refer to herself as a "bitch on wheels" when she was in full Jewish-Mommie mode (no, she's not Jewish, but I think all shiksas nderstand what you're referring to). You've shown your "bitch on wheels" side here:-)
I'm glad we're moving on and into the convention. It will be interesting to see how you portray all the FanStorians who will be there. Fingers crossed that we don't have Jane in the car on the way home.
I especially liked your last paragraph, where you use phrases like "glass-fronted sky scrapers" "see-through sentinels" and "reflect off the sun-drenched ocean waves" to describe the AC skyline. Very descriptive.

Lol. Yes, Gretchen is just TOO NICE! But at least you forced her to say those words of apology even if she didn't mean them. You sounded just like me as a mother! Now are you going to surprise me in the next chapter by having Jane truly repentant and remorseful, and explaining away her bad behaviour by saying she truly humbly wished she was just like the two of you (but of course because she had a difficult childhood ... blah blah blah ...).
