This is a well structured story in such a succinct form! We knew something unfortunate was imminent but you waited until the very end to disclose that you both were casualties. That made it all the more chilling (so to speak!) I like the open-ended element of this leaving the details up to the reader's imagination. Great pic as well. Well done and good luck! Debbie

Thanks Debbie, it is actually a true story until the end. And I changed the name of the girl. But it was the Halloween Blizzard of the century in 1991.
Thanks so much for the lovely review and kind comments.

I'm so sorry for you and your daughter that she was not able to get a whole lot of trick-or-treating done that year. I hope Annie was able to get some candy somewhere and didn't have to go the whole year without having any candy. That would've been horrible!
I like how you showed your commitment and love for your daughter and her feelings and attempted to be a heroic parent in spite of the adversity.

Nicely done. Here in East Texas we don't get snow. We get slush. The stuff of Orthopedist dreams! Many broken limbs. Not me, because I do not get out in the weather anymore. But, I only see snow on Tv and in Movies. Good luck with the coming weather. Good work here. Karen

Ah, Mother Nature at her devious best. I hope they weren't stranded too far from home. The chances we take as parents for the benefit of our children. Nicely done. Good luck in the contest.

I certainly could relate to this flash fiction, although we weren't reported among the dead. A bone-chilling one for the contest, mystery writer.
Sending you my best today as always and my very best wishes in the upcoming vote.

This short piece captured my imagination. I could picture the snow and an anxious grade school student. The end sucker punched me. Very clever indeed. It's hard to imagine finding out about your death over the radio. I have no criticisms it was creepily entertaining. Gayla

Oh, dear. What a catastrophe! I enjoyed reading this short story and couldn't wait to see what happens at the end. A humorous and entertaining story. Well done.

Thanks so much for the lovely review and comments. This is all true except my daughter's name and the ending, obviously. But the Halloween Blizzard of the Century was a thing. My friend and I took both our daughters out in it and they jumped out of the back and trampled through the snow just to trick or treat. We only took them to the people we knew and trusted so it was scary driving in it. Anyway, thanks again, Kahlani
