I've had students who were "disabled," and the ones who did the best were the ones whose families never treated them as if they had a disability. They had to adapt to make themselves fully functioning in this non-disabled world, but they managed and didn't dwell on that. Nice reminder of that, this poem of yours.

A standing ovation for you, the poem and every person who has kept on fighting regardless of their disability. My oldest son is disabled by no fault of his own and his siblings have stood up against their friends and showed them he was to be treated with respect or there is the door. Everyone met their wishes.
