"What happened?
So many questions, no answers" Many a time, such is life.
"Mary's first husband, Richard, drowned while swimming in a river with his friends." Oh my, how so dreadfully awful. So sorry.
"Mary's body was found. She was discovered drowned in the bottom of a disused mineshaft" Horrible, horrible stuff.
Oh my, this is an awfully sad, depressing story--such shocking mysteries. Despite your ancestors' woes, I'm glad you made out well in the end.

Thank you very much for this understanding review. Life was very tough for these people; we are fortunate to not have to go through similar struggles. I appreciate your kind and caring review.

This is very well written, and I can see the reason that you have a lot of questions about what happened to the various family members and ancestors. I know very little about my maternal grandparents. The only thing I know about them really is I have a picture of them when they got married, I know their names but other than that, I know so very little. I think my mother had a very serious problem with her parents so therefore she never told us children about what had gone on between her and her parents for some reason. It only leaves me with conjecture and wondering whether or not , she herself had done some things that she was not proud of and her parents had disowned her for I just do not know. Patricia.

Yes, that is possible. And I guess in those days, just being able to look after large families was a huge job. Many thanks for your kind and caring review. There are some things we'll never know or understand.

Wendy,
A very sad, yet magnificent story. How tragic for those seven children! And your grandmother.
Did you ever try ancestry.com to find cousins who may be living near you without your knowledge. I went on ancestry; my mom's relatives were vague, (country people who apparently kept no records)but my dad's family had was rich in history.
I'm sorry about such a tragedy, Wendy. This story keeps their story alive, a kind of tribute to those you lost.
Best wishes,
Cindy

Yes, my daughter is using ancestry.com, and has found relatives in various parts of Australia as well as in England. None near us though. There are lots of interesting stories she has found out though. Thank you so much for this excellent review, and also for the six stars. I am delighted and grateful. You are right, I am at least acknowledging their existence, and that I care. Thanks so much.

What an incredible story and so sad. It is so frustrating for family members who try to find answers in their family tree and come back empty handed. Her death definitely sounds questionable and it seems odd that no investigation was done but maybe it was just because of the era it took place in. So interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Marilyn. Yes, it is all quite a mystery, and we'll never know for sure what happened to her, and to all her other children!

Digging into family history is like that. I also have run into many mysteries that there seen no way to unravel at this point. I think that is why I'm writing don't so much of my life so that no one with wonder what happened if anyone become interested in know more. Fact disappear so quickly.

This is a fascinating tale of what can happen in families. Perhaps the younger children were placed into care homes? So many possibilities could be imagined, mostly unpleasant (at least to my mind). I would be interested to read any more details you uncover, kay.

There are no records of them in any orphanages or care homes. Simply untraceable, very perplexing. Thanks so much for reviewing!

That's a very intriguing story, Wendy. As a last resort, it might be interesting to seek out a psychic. Researching family histories has become quite popular here in the states.

Thank you for reviewing, Paul. Yes, it's a fascinating process to trace one's lineage, including the good and the bad. Hadn't thought of a psychic, but probably not. Thanks again.

Oh, your words are not only moving but also tends to leave a mystery hanging over your head with a zillion questions unanswered. I can see how you must feel like someone has built a wall to block the answers...possible sinister ones or maybe purely an unfortunate accident. Well written, WEndy.
Smiles and hugs, Carol

Yes, so many unanswered questions. Thank you so much for this fine review. I should think up a fictional storyline. Maybe I will one day.

This resembles "Ancestry.com" a fascinating look into your past is available for us, if we only knew. Your curiosity is insatiable. Being one of ten kids would be enough to fill anyone's time and patience. So good luck with your search.
