This exaggerated view of a bus driver is clever, funny, and timely. It sounds almost like you're describing a knight in shining armour, coming to rescue damsels (parents) in distress. I've loved having the kids home for the summer, but we all need our routine back. Thanks for sharing this poem.

Dear Jess,
You are so hilarious with your comments. I can appreciate this and remember... Many days I drove them because we didn't have a bus. My brother that just passed away was a school bus driver for decades. He was retired but something he just loved to do. Sending you my best today as always and my best for the contest.

Excellent tribute to this unsung hero of parents all over the globe. His day begins and ends with controlled chaos. Give him a hand! And hope he returns tomorrow...

Hooray for school bus drivers as many of them can make the day for the students. I wonder if you really meant "Alas" or "At last" as it sounds like you wanted to see him. Best wishes in the contest.

Helen, that's a great point. I was going for a sarcastic tone with "Alas," but looking at it again, I realize it's not working. lol, thank you! I've revised it.
