What a great topic for a Rant- I can empathise with some of these new smart cars since I just changed my car last year -didn't want anything 'fancy' - seems we are stuck with cars telling us what to do - the machines are taking over!!!!

Yes, they are taking over. Lol. Thanks so much for a great review. I'm pleased you could relate.

There will come the day when we won't have to do a thing after getting in. Simply state the address where you want to go, and snooze if you would and the alarm goes off that your destination is near at hand.

Yes, that's not far away. We now have a driverless metro system.
Thanks for reviewing.

Quite a rant!
The first thing I would consider is whether the voice could be changed to a man. (smiley face here) Then I would see if I could lower the volume. Maybe a car that unlocked the doors as you approached would not be quite as bad as what you've described?
Good luck in the contest.

Lol. Now, a man's voice? Hmm, maybe a bossy man is not as bad as a bossy woman, I'm not sure! I would like a volume control knob. My husband possibly doesn't even hear her telling him all the time what to do. I could turn her up for him, and down for when I'm driving. Oh the possibilities! Thanks for a fun review.

Well, in my meaningless opinion,
1) keep the husband, you've "owned" him far longer then the new car. He may be no longer trainable (all us guys reach that point) but he's a solid addition.
2) you've been driving a long time, know the roads and the rules of the road... shut her down until you need her.
You may lose lots of $$$$ by trading her in so quickly. Unless of course you do a physical "rant" rather than the written rant.
Good luck,
John

Lol. Thank you, yes. I think I will shut her up but only if I can work out the destinations and directions thing, and if she can talk appropriately to me about that (and only that!). As for my husband - ah yes, you're probably right. He is useful in helping with vacuuming etc! Lol. A super and fun review. Thank you.

Oh heavens, Wendy! No talking cars for me! I have enough people to argue with without the banter of my car. LOL It's bad enough when I take a shortcut or turn off to make a stop that wasn't programed into the GPS and the woman starts yelling, Recalculating! Recalculating! I think I will just stay home and have my groceries delivered. LOL Good luck with your car....and your husband.

Lol. A super and fun review. Yes, there is the Recalculating thing, which, when I figure out how to get it to give me directions, will add to the mix of noise in my head! Thanks so much.

Really funny. I, too am not a fan of new-fangled vehicles with all the bells and whistles. I find the announcements irritating and somewhat distracting. I really don't need a car that's smarter than I am and have a terrific fear of AI when the car industry will come up with a vehicle which will eject me from the driver's seat because it thinks it can do a better job of driving than I can or silence me with sleeping gas until I have reached my destination because I argue with its superior logic. A great rant.

Thank you for this excellent review. You are right. We now have driverless trains. Let's hope there are no technological hiccups. I am a bit of a control freak, so I need to be in charge of my car, rather than it doing and saying whatever it thinks to be "helpful". Love your review.
