Oh these companies make me sooo mad! I definitely wouldn't pay them. I don't think it will ruin your credit. i would write them a detailed letter with dates and times you called, what was said and who you spoke to if you wrote it down. It is good to have it in writing and who knows, it might help. you will love your roku. i couldn't live without mine! Good luck.

    Thank you Marilyn.They are continuing to send me bills and threats to ruin my credit but I don't plan to pay. I'm not worried about my credit score. I've been turned over to a collection agency before for something I refused to pay because I knew I didn't owe it. It didn't hurt my credit rating.

I share your sufferings. Our Assisted Living Complex has a service on all our tvs. If there is a storm, even in the distance, many channels go off. I love movies and one week I was looking forward all week to one particular movie. I turned on the tv. No signal, due to rain.

Yes, it seems that companies are in general, Rogues, who know all the tricks in the book to make one uncomfortable, we have a home phone that we never use or answer but are still paying for, they want our money, not out, despite what they say, no integrity these days, Jesus was right about money, beautifully written Beth, blessings Roy

Thank you for sharing this contest rant with us. I enjoyed reading and completely understand. We've disconnected it all too and simply use an old-fashioned antenna. Good luck with the contest.

Then they merged with AT&T, and after they started streaming TV., nothing seemed to work right. (TV,)

A lady from DIrect called me in May and tried to talk me into keeping the service, (Direct)

I have learned that whenever AT&T is involved in anything, it's bound to get screwed up. I wonder if calling the Better Business Bureau would help, or some areas that have local news channels have a person who investigates complaints like this and airs the story on their show after contacting the company to ask them how they're going to fix it.

There's always something that we have to "take care of". One of these days, I'm going to disconnect everything in my house and live like a hermit. Except they'll probably tax me on it.

    Thank you Pam. I agree about AT&T. I had all kinds of problems for years when it was my telephone service. There is no way to live without paying. Even if you diconnect everything there is still taxes and you can't risk not having insurance unless ready to live on the street.

Thank you for telling me about DirectTV. We never subscribed to that but we did have Comcast where we lived before because it was the only internet service in that area and we couldn't get TV reception so we watched even the news through the internet. It's appalling what these companies try to do to us the make more money, especially when ending our subscription with them! Best wishes in the contest!

    You can get over 200 stations free now if you buy a Roku stick from Walmart. It is easy to install yourself. There are a lot of News stations. It is totally legal because they are only certain stations you can't stream. Thanks for the review.

    With all my time online, I can't imagine watching more than one show a night. Whew. My husband watches and summarizes. He watches all the foreign movies. Last night it was a Czech detective show.

A sixer just because I despise DirectTV as much as you seem to, if not more.

Would reconsider paying the delinquent May bill if only to preserve my good credit rating, whether planned to be used again or not. One simply never knows. Would not give them that much satisfaction.

Did I tell you how much I despise DirectTV?

    Yes, It is good know other people are having trouble with them too. I think I'll sent them this letter and tell they it about to be published. LOL A lot of good that would do, but seriously they if they don't start giving better service, people are going to start going to free streaming TV and canceling their service.

I can easily relate to your problem. We have a different TV service than you, but have chronic problems. Our rate seems to go up monthly, and you get a different spiel from each person you talk to. Your rant tells us clearly your story and how Direct TV does not seem willing to listen. Too bad you have written record of your April conversation in which you asked to discontinue service. Rod

Oh, Beth, don't get me started on Direct TV. I pay extra every month for them to come to my house to service things, but they say none of it is covered... then what is? I keep getting this 771 code and it tells me to enter my pin number (which I don't have) so I can update. It doesn't give me any other suggestions. It's just a big run around game.

    I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has problems with them. A lot of people are getting Roku stick which isn't expensive and getting rid of their service. I getting more than I was before and I'm not paying anything. Of course that are many stations you can't get with the free service but you have a lot to chose from.
