What a wonderful tribute to a special man. There are so many 'John's' quietly living good lives under hard circustances who never get acknowledged. Let's try to let them know that we see them while they are here. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Wendy, this is such a beautiful tribute to an unassuming man who did what he felt was right within his abilities. I'm glad a memorial plague will be place in the park. Thank you GG or sharing this. Ulla xcx

Wendy, what a beautifully written heartfelt story. It is so touching that this man was honored after his death so lovingly. But more importantly, he was honored and loved while he was alive. I am sure that he maybe knew ridicule and cruel laughter, as most people who are a little different have been at least teased or made fun of. I believe this man was special in a way that he brought joy to others and could rise above most anything. I felt that deeply in your story and he seemed like a remarkable man.
Thanks so much for enlightening us with this as I am richer today for hearing this. It makes me more thankful and gives me cause to thank God again this morning for what I have. We could all be so blessed to have the kind of spirit John did.
Thanks again, my dear friend. Love, Debi

Well done, Wendy. Your community was lucky to have such a man. These kind of people are a rarity today.
When John goes through the Pearly Gates,
And to the Lord ascends,
I'll bet Saint Pete writes down his dates
With one of old John's pens.

What a fine little verse! Well done. Thanks so much for a great review. Yes, in retrospect, we were fortunate, and a pity most of us did not acknowledge him and his work before he died.

This tribute to John touches my heart with his servitude and humble spirit he will be missed by all of us even though we didn't know him personally he gave to all whether they deserved it or not.
I am also in a wheelchair and can relate to not being able to contribute to society gainfully but I still do my part by writing and getting it published from time to time.

Thank you very much Jesse. Like John, you do what you are able to do, to the best of your ability. Fortunately, God sees the heart and accepts all who come to Him and trust in His Son Jesus. It's not a case of earning our salvation by good works, thankfully. I am pleased you enjoyed this one.

Your notesI found timely as I am preparing for a Sunday School lesson. The subject being "God's intent to bring you home," which infers to me we were once there. If so, why were we released if Father only wanted us to come home once more? What did we do before we left, and what will we do when we return?
As for John, everyone I believe has been given a purpose. Your charitable work was yours. I still am looking for mine.

I believe it is God's intent to bring us to His home, our eternal heavenly home, as distinct from our earthly one, so it's new and different, and we haven't been there before. Thank you for reviewing.

So where was Jeremiah (1:5) before he was formed? Hmm?
-
God saw all of us before we were formed and knew us. He has foreknowledge of what we count as the future.

A wonderful tribute to John, Wendy! I dodn't know him, but by your words I and others can honor him. In his life time, though diligence and belief, he did his job faithfully, regardless of his disabilities. He didn't complain or use it to get sympathy, instead he went daily to work to help others. His heart must have been made of gold. I am sure the LOrd welcomed him with open arms,
Smiles and hugs, Carol

Thank you very much, Carol. It's a lovely review. A pity he didn't know how very accepted and cared for he was before he died. I am sure he has received a warm welcome by Jesus.
