We are all on this earth together, all over the world, as part of humanity. Our goal should be to make sure our fellow man is able to survive, since we ALL want to live. When we turn a blind eye to the suffering of others, especially children, we strangle our own blessings. Your picture is profound, and intensifies the powerful message of your poem.

That photo definitely pulls at the heartstrings. So so sad. And it's so true how our refugees have been treated over the years. Even if here through legal means, treatment is not always good. And we won't talk about all those children in encampments... keep it in the low, right?
Hope someday things will be different... time will tell.

Yeah. The Tories are riding in the streets, protesting all the immigrants that are there. And they're also attacking
British citizens whose families have lived there for generations.

Their protesting because they think the immigrants are keeping them from getting a job or keeping them from getting a better job

They had some pro Palestinian demonstrations. I don't think they turn violent

so much for the conservatives being in favor of law and order

Thank you for your wonderful comments and your excellent waiting

The world is in a fragile place right now. Your picture of that little boy should give us pause and reach out to those who really need help. Thank you for sharing this poignant poem. Ulla xcx

Thank you for, again sharing this horrendous act that we had the opportunity to show kindness in and refused. I know God wept as He looked down upon us. We don't seem to learn.

I think it must be human nature. I have no way to support those people there other than contribute to charities. We're just not over there and that's what the poem says over there meaning other.

People have always been afraid of or attacked the other people that don't fit into their profile of what a worthy person is

Thank you for your poignant and heartfelt review and excellent rating

Hi Pam,
This is a picture that should make anyone cry. It is so sad that refugees died because the US failed to keep its promise on the Statue of Liberty.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a wonderful day and week.

This poem really hits hard with its exploration of the tragic history of refugee rejection and the ongoing struggles faced by displaced people. The emotional tone is so powerful, and the historical references you've chosen are incredibly poignant. The way you repeat themes and highlight the stark indifference really drives the message home. It's a moving and thought-provoking piece that brings these important issues to light.

sad and compelling poem about refugees fleeing war, natural disasters and civil unrest everywhere in the world only to find no one wants them and there is no where for them to exist,

None of know what tomorrow will bring and we should all learn to treat others with the grace God has given us. Everyone should be treated equally regardless of who they are. What if tomorrow by some unknown reason we were faced with the same circumstances? You picture breaks my heart.

Hugs. it breaks my heart also I have had one reviewer called these people needy and I responded. It's not that they're needy. It's life and death. How he could've missed that in my post I'll never know.

Thank you for your wonderful poignant review

A very well crafted, opinionated humanity, rights, and obligations poem. I think is written and narrated well, and gets the author's morality based point across. I can't say I agree with it. Especially, the people today carrying any possible shame for the actions of people yesterday. That is a terrible thing also, and endless. Also, it comes down to what rights do the needy have to what belongs to others.

This is not about the needy. Not at all. It's about life and death.

This is such a sad piece of poetry about a terrible situation. It is such a shame that all people are not treated as just that...people. It doesn't matter what we look like, we are all human. That image is so very heartbreaking, and all the more so given that it is real.
