I don't really use it myself when I talk, but I like to occasionally throw it in for variety. I tend to overuse "as" and I get tired of always using "because" or "since." "For" is definitely more literary, so I use it sparingly, but Brian is widely read and has probably heard it himself in all the classics he has read, so he occasionally gets a little literary in his narration.
I won't be going into any detail in the Skype calls--just a few references to it.
