It's so sad that actors and actresses, especially those who receive fame and acclaim so young in life, to face growing old and becoming completely unknown. Great portrayal here.

Goodness, that is hard - the taunts are children from her memories but she is no longer able to discen what is reality, what may have occurred in the past, or whether it's in fact all confusion from from the ageing process. Very thoughtful poem, a little bit scary about what happens when the mind starts to go.
Well written.

You describe a terrifying place, inside this actress's mind. It's hard to get old, but even worse if you're imagining threats that don't exist. Your words made me agree with you... hoping that she'll find peace. Well done!

Pam,
Your dad poem tells of someone once young, beautiful, and talented who ages and is very fragile, emotionally.
The children are symbolic of her self-doubts?
I like this excellent poem.
I'm not sure but your photo is of a real depression-era actress?
Best wishes, Pam.

This reminds me of Bette Davis and the movie, What Ever Happened To Baby Jane. Or the movie Gray Gardens. As difficult as it is for the rest of us to grow older, I often wonder how the big actors and actresses handle it. They were once the desire of everyone and had looks, fame and money. To lose that and become just another "aging" person would be difficult to wrap your head around. Good poem. Thanks for sharing.

This was one of those poems that was a lot of different things. Sad that she was a fading star. Scary that she saw children trying to hurt and taunt her. The mind, body and will to live were all at odds with each other. This was a compelling poem. Gretchen

Hi, I love your detail description of our aging beauty, and 'tis so true that nothing in life last forever. We get lesser noticed as we aged because the beauty speak louder than almost anything else out there. Whether one is an Actor or Actress, we're human(s), and we can't fight aging. I like your step by step detail descriptions, and overall to your writing a 5 star from me, and I do not have a 6star option. I wish you all the best!

It's true, the eyes are the window to the soul. You can learn all you need to know about a person by the eyes. I love the poem. It would be nice to stay young, but sadly we grow old. At least we are young at heart. Beautiful poem.
