Hi Debi, it is difficult to comprehend that Jan passed away only a year ago. It seems much longer. She was generous with her time and share her knowledge willingly. She was a true asset to the FS family, and her memory lives on. Xo. M

Hi Sweetie, yes, and yet she told me on numerous occasions that everyone hated her. Well I see no indications of that at all. Well maybe one. My last review but it was quite humorous actually.
Thanks for the kind comments and making the pain of the day a little bit better. Thanks again, love Debi

Aww I miss Jan. Specifically, the crazy contests she hosted, and how each new contest had rules to ban whatever I'd written in the previous contest. Although we were openly hostile to each other, having to craft entries around her crazy rules made for some wildly creative writing opportunities. I never got to read much of anything she wrote because she had me perpetually blocked.
To her credit she was very concerned with fairness. She would never openly complain. She'd just quietly change the rules. LOL.
In memory of Jan, here's a compilation of a couple of her more epic writing prompts:
***
Family Fiction Story ~ READ ALL RULES!!!
'family' will be interpreted as follows ~
Grandparents may be included in the family as the adults in lieu of parents
family ~a basic social unit consisting of parents or grandparents and their child(ren or grandchildren), considered as a group:
no same sex couple
No vulgar words, sexual terms, murder, ghosts, or profanity allowed--no warnings, time travel, profanity, references to political figures, parties/innuendos/references to ideologies such as Marxism
No Stories about Christmas, Christmas Day or Valentines Day/No stories about adoption of children OR a human in the hospital/hospice care with little time left to live or stories about pets in the family
MUST be about HUMANS
Minimum of 400 and maximum of 450 words
No writing on the ONE picture that's allowed /No animation with picture or music
One color of font only
***
Wherever Jan is now, hope she's having a blast with her cat. Thanks for the tribute and reminder. It's a nice pic of her too.

Hahahaha! I can't help but get a kick out of this as it certainly does sound like her when she wanted something a certain way. I am still chuckling because I love how blunt and honest you are about your love/hate relationship with Jan. You just had to love to hate her and hated to love her. LOL . After all we don't all have the same personalities or the same perspective, but I sure hope you know what a big smile you put on my face. That was hilarious. Thanks, my friend for showing me a side of Jan that I had forgotten all about and also for the big laugh. I needed that tonight.
Give yourself a big pat on the back that you would contribute in such a fun way to our one year later memorial after Jan died. Thanks, my friend.
You are awesome.
Love, Debi

Glad I could contribute! She still has me eternally blocked from seeing her, LOL.

This is a lovely poem of remembrance for Jan. I did not know her, she was before my time here, but she sounds like a wonderful person. Thank you for sharing this poem. Nicely done, Debi.

Hi Gayle, I appreciate the very kind comments about our Jan's poem. Her and I spent lots of time on the phone together so I even have voicemails that I haven't listened to or thrown away yet. I just don't have the heart.
Thanks again for all the kind words. Love, Debi

I tried to review several times earlier but I found it so hard to remember that she was taken from us so suddenly like that. We didn't have a chance to say goodbye. But we know she's experiencing the best joy beyond anything we can imagine being with the Lord and meeting all those vets she honored with her poems!
Thanks so much for remembering and caring. You're the best!

Hi Helen, thank you so much, and I do know the feeling as I have a bunch of voicemails I still can't delete or listen to yet. I can't believe that Jan always thought that that everyone hated her. I hope it is possible for her to hear us so she knows the love that so many felt here.
Is that a quatern that I wrote. I couldn't remember the name of it. I wanted to write it in author's notes.
Thanks for the sweet words for Jan and for the kind things you said to me.
You and they mean the world to me. Thanks again. Love, Debi
-
Yes, your quatern was nicely done! Roy wrote one recently. 💕💗❤️
-
Thank you. I will add that to my notes. I missed Roy's as I review so little. I barely have time to do a few of my friends. We are leaving for our family vacation for a week but all of a sudden there were so many poems that needed to be written. Thanks again, Helen. Love ya lots. D
-
Just write them down on paper and share when you get back. Just enjoy your vacation! 💖💖

VIRTUAL SIX! Oh, this day escaped me. I miss our dear Jan so much. I saw her as as pillar of FanStory. She had a heart for America and for our veterans and that is dearly missed, as well as her sun, moon and star observations. I called her my Moon Friend. Her presence was as big as the moon and as illuminating. I too, hope Abby found a loving home.
Thank you for sharing, Debi dear, and beautifully so.
Love & Blessings and extra hugs, love, and comfort in our collective losses.
