This was especially helpful to me. I have a daughter who is bipolar and I empathize completely. I wish though, that I knew a way to help her. Do you have any suggestions? I love that you wrote about this so amazingly and descriptively. It takes the reader right into your feelings. Well done in every respect. MM

    Hi MissMerri

For your daughter, I suggest that you either change psychiatrists or have the current one prescribe meds that work

I take a mood stabilizer called lamotrigine. I also take two anti-depressants. One is called mirtazapine and the other one is called Risperdone or Risperdal

Both anti depressants are good for aiding sleep

But the mood stabilizer is almost more important than the anti-depressants. Its purpose is to prevent extreme highs and the extreme lows So it kinda keeps your moods in check.

Thank you for your wonderful comments and a great review

Thank you especially for the shiny stars. It made my day.

You have made a compelling picture of the vicissitudes of bipolar. It is a difficult reality that has serious issues in finding treatment. The glimpse you provide is so like the experiences my clients describe. Thank you

Wow! This is the clearest, most coherent view of bipolar (or any mental disorder) I've ever seen. I'm sorry this is from personal experience, but I doubt this could have been written under any other circumstance. The fact that this affects you personally gives this an immediacy and urgency it would lack otherwise. I also hope that putting this all into words is helpful and therapeutic to you, and helps others to know how to deal with you during these episodes, i.e., I hope it relieves you of "blame." Too many people blame others for behavior that is beyond their control, and that only exacerbates the problem.

My daughter doesn't have bipolar, but she does have a litany of conditions that can be abbreviated by three or four letters. There was tension between us for a long time, until she started learning enough about her conditions to explain what she was feeling. Finding words for her feelings and actions helped her to realize she wasn't actually "going crazy," as she'd feared, and it's helped me to understand more what is and isn't within her control, making me more understanding and flexible.

So, congratulations for putting your feelings into words. I hope it's helped you. I know it's helped me to have a better understanding.

My ex-brother-in-law is bipolar. He let it get the best of him, and he eventually became an addict. I'm sorry you're dealing with these issues; it has to be incredibly debilitating. My prayers, my friend.
Thank you for sharing, I feel this helps others with similar conditions.
God bless,
Steve

Wow this poem is written wonderfully and really gives the reader an insight to the bipolar condition. It shows the daily struggles. You have chosen the words so carefully and well done with including the rhyme. Its educational also and can help people like myself to be more understanding and compassionate with individuals who suffer. I wish you the best, thanks for sharing and well done

Regulating the gyroscope of the mind is a solution hard to find, steering through the creative highs and crushing lows, trying to find a balance.

High levels of creativity provides assurance of potential; while doubt, and anger push to the psycho-path.

Do not give up or give in.
Reminder, you are "somebody" and false standards of others do not own you.

Press on with the task of self acceptance and feel the negatively of isolation fade away.

You are a good person; I will pray for you.

This is an informative poem about bipolar. It must be very disturbing to suffer from this. In my day there wasn't all these fancy names for each type of depression. If you felt down you were just told to buck up and get on with it.
Very well written. Love Jen.

This is very well written, impeccable rhymes and metre. More importantly to me though is the truth I find in your words. This is what it feels like. Thank you for a wonderful poem

Pam, I am so happy that I chose to read your poem. My reminder of this dreadful curse comes to me with every breath I take. Those who do not relate with, "Bipolar" credentials, certainly are those who are the willing ones that will read the "About" details, and there are those who are nodding their heads up and down, knowing exactly and agreeing with the words stated. Reading and relating are very different. I read, and I relate. Best wishes to you!
