I've read this a few times simply because I love the flow of your free verse. It seems so effortless as though the words find their own place on the page. I'm not sure whether the sea is a metaphor for life or actually a dominant person in your life. But I enjoyed your alliterative description of the "wanting weathering waves" crashing down on you, a stone with jagged edges. Then you change the tone by honing in more specifically on (I think) the darkening night sky, reflecting the fading light. I particularly like the imagery of washing the view. This is a very haunting and poignant portrayal, inspired by this vision of the seashore. Thanks for sharing, Jess. Take care Debbie

A nicely written abstract poem, with the inanimate objects being assailed by animate one's, an ongoing assault that's been going on for many eons, absorbed into animate life. Yes, this is beautifully written Jessica, well done, ace job, blessings Roy

"Stone and Sea" Hmm, two objects of opposing characteristics. Let's see...
"rooted, stripped, waiting" I'd have been there in a flash after stripped.
"with your wanting,
weathering waves." Good w-words alliteration.
"And before you rise again" Oh, how I so love to 'rise'--I do!
Be my sea and I'll be stoned for you! :-))

This wasa complex poem. I liked the surface poem about the waves and the tide rolling in and out. But then the deeper meaning. Maybe a lover who feels she gives more than she gets. In the time of feeling abandoned or forgotten, she sees her lover for what he is, but knows once he returns, she will forgive and forget. Very well written. Gretchen

This is beautiful. Your words bring a sense of longing. You share an emotional landscape that I could relate to. The closing lines are my favorite. A truly wonderful poem.

This is a beautifully written poem about the relationship between the sea and the shore. My curiosity is wondering if it's also a metaphor for human relationships. I see a parallel between the two. Thank you for sharing.

I can't help but imagine that you are getting so tired of me telling you how fabulous your poetry is - how unique and deep and emotionally full and drenching. This is another exceptional offering by someone who seems destined to do nothing less. Even the picture is perfect!! Thanks for all this adds to my day. xoxox

I like your title, and it fit along perfectly with your description poetry. Love your metaphors that got more deeper meaning to the reader's' imagination than just a stone and a sea. Your art image does reflect your messages, and overall I love it, and wish you win!
