I only have sons, but I expect my sons to treat their wives with the same respect you've ask for your daughter. I saw this yesterday and copied it. "Marry a man who wants to be a husband, not a man who just wants a wife." I think it speaks volumes. Thank you for sharing.

This is perfect! Of course the first seven items would be enough to chase away most would-be sons-in-law but the last half clearly shows that yours is the family Josh would be blessed to be a part of! Thanks for sharing your humor and your wonderful family love. Congratulations on adding another member to your family!

I have two daughters, and this would have expressed my feeling perfectly, pre-marriage, but, like you, i felt it, but discovered by the time my girls accepted, both daughters honoured myself and Elaine by getting their young men my permission, at that stage I figured if they couldn't make that decision wisely then I'd done a lousy job as a dad in raising them, many years down the track, they were Wise, beautiful sons in law, beautiful grandchildren, although my elder son in law, moved 11,000 miles with his job to New York for four years, but we got to see the US, BeautifulY written Dan, great job, great sense of humour, my sentiments exactly. blessings Roy
Typo : Georgious princess. Gorgeous? 2: (of) I say yes to you. If?

I'm sitting here with "soggy tears" tissues in my hand (so forgive any typos)-because you've touched every part of my heart! I adore my daughter and granddaughter, who at twenty is beginning to (gulp) show interest in a particular young man...

I just met My granddaughter's young man...and on my way to meet him I (jokingly) asked her if she'd mind me asking him for DNA and fingerprints...so I feel you!

And you had it notarized! That's insanely perfect!

I think if you took out the names and put the form on a site like ETSY, you'd sell about a million of them!

(I'd be first in line to purchase it!)

Thank you so very much for taking the time to both read and review "Eight Simple Rules". I'm glad you saw and appreciated the humor. Thanks for the idea of trying to somehow make some money on this. They've been married nearly 15 years and it is working, because they are working at it.
I also really appreciate the five stars that you gave me.

You son-in-law should have no doubt what kind of father in law he will be dealing with...the humor and tongue in cheek I suspect was great. A contract within family is an excellent idea, reminding each other that things don't always go as planned, but if we work at it, it can get better.
Loved it.....

This is definitely a six star writing that you have done and I enjoyed it very much. Any young man who has his eye on your daughter better show himself to be above the others. I'd like your rules for him and it is very well written. I wish, a very happy marriage. Patricia.

I love the idea of a type of contract. The Eight Simple Rules are hilarious, especially number three where Josh has to list the character traits of Kristina that demonstrate the exemplary training of her masterful parents. I also love your notarized pledge to Joshua. Couples who have family support usually remain happily married. Kristina is fortunate to have such a caring dad.

Wow. Two tiny fixes: 1. Capital T? and 5. Capital N? Likely intended. Josh sounds like a very brave man, and indeed must be a worthy man. What a splendid set of rules, which I suspect were only partway in jest. I assume they are engaged or happily married by now? Esther

I copied and pasted some things below from this website concerning copywriting. I don't know if you ever heard of the old method of cheaply protecting your writing. I heard several times the thing to do was write a letter Seal it, date it and send it to yourself and put it away somewhere and never open it. If there's ever a question you could then open it in front of somebody who cared about that sort of thing. L O L
For me I know that they will always have my stuff on file and save it I never have written that much but I used to think that I should do that old mail it to your self thing. I never did. I tell you they will always have my stuff on file, that is all conditional of course. It is based on the condition that FanStory maintains an online presence. Even if it doesn't you can print off everything that you have done with the copyright information listed on it. If you are thinking that you might become a major writer you would obviously want to increase your protection.

" If I post my story here do I lose copyright to it?"

No. You retain rights to your own material when you post your work on FanStory.com. You are free, and encouraged, to sell your work to others, publish it with others or do whatever you wish.
    What is FanStory Registered Copyright?

For any FanStory post an author can receive a registered copyright certificate identifying the author as the copyright owner of the work. In addition, FanStory provides date and time stamp protection as well as other means to secure the copyright personally to the author. The FanStory copyright symbol demonstrates that this protection is in place. This feature does not register writing with the U.S. Copyright Office or any other countries copyright office.

I don't want to mislead you and so I need to clarify something I said on my last comment to you. I said that the writing was there forever as long as fan story was going. I'm sorry but that was misleading. As long as you maintain your membership in good standing that is true if you fail to maintain a membership in good standing your work goes away. However: you can change that and I have. If you go to the top bar you'll see the word Community. Push that button and a drop-down list will include: "Premier Shield". When you click on it the drop-down will take you to information concerning this option. Basically it will do what I said it would do, but there is an additional fee for this feature. I found it worth it for me and I am a premier shield member. If you were to pass away, a family member could contact fan story and they would place internal flame on your profile and it would continue to display your work for no additional fee free for nonmembers to come and view.

What a fun and loving dad you must be! A sense of humor is very important--how else would we survive if we couldn't laugh and enjoy the surprises of life? This is a delightful list of requirements and a wonderful welcome to the family and promise for a great relationship. Blessings to you all! Well done!

This was so sweet and funny! I hope Josh lives up to it. I was tickled that you had it notarized before you met with him. Thank you for sharing, and best wishes to you.
