This girl sound very lucky to have had you for a teacher. You made her shower special by putting some much thought into your gift for her. I'll bet you were a favorite teacher for those in your class. You're creative and fun loving and who wouldn't want to be your student. I'm happy you felt well rewarding and had a wonderful time at the shower.

Hello, Rachelle,
What a delightful, heartwarming, and energetic narrative!
I can only imagine how you must have felt, and still feel, as you put together the treasure box for your beloved student. And there is no doubt in my mind that your former student loved it equally as well.
How you managed to do all that you did for her is mind-boggling = the type of true kindness that is rarely seen today, but when it happens, it lasts a lifetime in the memories of all who were in attendance.
As a former educator, how well I know the deliciousness of being reunited with former students who touched my life and vice versa.
The very best profession in all the world.
Still smiling!

Thank you for sharing!
(P.S. I love hot pink, too!)
Fondly,
diane

Rachelle,
I read your chapter, and I marveled at your descriptive phrases, and down to earth writing.
You have such a beautifully-seasoned writing style. And you say you're published. How fantastic!
I'm sorry I used all my 6's, I know this is only Monday, but nonetheless, this is an exceptional story.
Good luck with all your writing endeavors,
Cindy

Aw.... what a beautiful and meaningful gift. No wonder your student cried. You worked hard to make the perfect present and succeeded. I know how you feel, I taught business classes and job finding skills to adults with employment barriers and whenever I saw my students long after the classes ended I felt so proud and happy knowing I helped them find the right job.

Well done!

I, Rachelle, by the time I got through this, I had gone through all of the emotions you talked about feeling. This was incredible and a joy to read. I love the year of hats. Too cute. And the fact that you made them yourself is awesome. I have loaned your book to two people so far but I hover and demand it back if they procrastinate. Lol. Missed your writing. This was awesome . Wow! My carrier was as a teacher too and I can truly Empathize with your every word and emotion. I can't imagine the amount of joy you both must have felt. And what a beautiful gift you created that will last the year and beyond and will be passed down, I'm sure. I never made much as a special education teacher but i always felt rich. I get it! I'm so happy for you, Rachelle. With best wishes.

Alex :)

Hi, Rachelle. I hope you are well

Wow. This is a very touching story. I know that a teacher is overjoyed when she sees a student do well in life.

All those little trinkets she made were able to be opened by her student. While she was talking about making all those things, I had sense of dread. I was thinking maybe the student or her baby was going to die before you could give them away.

I'm glad it turned out differently. I'm sure that meant so much to both of you.

I enjoyed reading your story

Good job. Thank you for sharing.

Very excellent writing, of course.
But I must admit that throughout I was trying to relate - meeting the awkward sandlot kid that you'd mentored and carried on your team 10-15 years later. He was home from Marine Corps boot camp following your footsteps, or he was drafted by a contending baseball team and pulled directly into the major league, or he knocked out the mean guy who was bullying the neighborhood. Something like that. (smiley face here)
