Great writing and imagery. The copperhead is beautiful and magical.
This poem gives the message that they are best to like from afar. I most liked the ending, we don't want to test the copperhead!

A fine description of this deadly creature. Does it count as a phobia if it's just plain common sense? Haha.
There was a small house near where I lived. It was in the state game lands (Forest). Apparently it had been unknowingly built over a copperhead den, and the snakes would come into the house by the hundreds and thousands. The house was put up for sale repeatedly, each new owner confident they could get rid of the snakes. But even professional exterminators failed. Last I saw, the house had been abandoned(by people), and was becoming incorporated into the copperhead den.

Julie, OMG! What a story. We once purchased him that was infested with blackwidow spiders, mist fortuitously were are able to eradicate them before we moved in. Thanks for the positive validation.
