All too rare

I agree random conversation is rare and normally not very good. I know when I write dialogue and I use it to move my stories forward, I attempt to write natural language, but not totally normal. I do have purist attempt to correct the grammar in dialogue, but people don't speak that way. In narrative the grammar needs to be correct. I enjoyed reading.

You've helped me in this regard too, Barbara. It is a challenge, and you have to be extra vigilant when writing dialog to not speak as imprecisely and with such repetition as many people do. Reading actual transcripts of speech is almost embarrassing at times. That's why I prefer written communication to speech. You have a chance to think about what you're saying, and it comes across much better.

Well Jim, two things...
One- I did not see the original post from 11/22. I returned here to FS late that month.

Two- of this is your first script attempt, I found it spectacular. I was able to follow the flow of characters and the minuscule conversations Bob was able to achieve.

It was written in your type of humor (which is like mine) and gave me a few chuckles; especially the farm instance.

Well done, looking forward to the concluding post.

Cheers,
John

Thanks so much, John. My only other script-writing experience was that brief chapter in What We See between Alan and the radio talkshow host where he seeks her advice on how to deal with Ginnie.

That farm instance was from my own childhood. Sure looked like Bean with Bacon soup to me!
