I love the reveal at the end up until that I felt like I was eavesdropping and wanted to stop. I was reading in the hope of a joke and you came good in the end. A great entry that has a good chance of winning. Good luck.

i am sure this qualifies to meet the criteria, but it is dizzying to me, not your story but why someone would create a challenge of a one-way dialogue. Still, I can see how the speaker speaks in describing herself - vividly.

I enjoyed this entry, in that the person at the other end of the conversation clearly seems to be on the same wavelength as the narrator. This is revealed by the colloquial language used and the discussion of dating and girlie shopping trips together, yet on the other hand, the issues with new technology, the hype surrounding the neighbour's cat and the words 'your daughter' reveal the generation gap between the two.
Despite this gap, the 'half'conversation flows beautifully on the narrator's part and I don't know about other readers, but I could imagine the 'invisible' person's expression to be alternating between confusion, amusement and coyness, as the conversation continues. When we discover that it is the narrator's grandmother on the other end, this gives us the insight into the beauty of the relationship between child and grandparent, one that can surpass that of the relationship between child and parent and sadly, one that often does not last long enough. That is why this little snippet strikes gold.

I just gave away my last six star rating, otherwise I would have given you one.
This one sided dialogue entry was fantastic. It had my mind bouncing here, there and everywhere. And then came the final line.
Perfect!
Best of luck in the contest.

Absolutely adorable. This is really really sweet. Makes me happy. Womanhood really doesn't ever end if you don't want it to. One of those poems that makes you read it twice and just keeps getting better.
