You raise some really great points in your rant. Your point about the national debt is right on, and neither side seems concerned with it. I agree with your final three paragraphs on ability in a candidate. I'd like to add honesty to your list of desirable nouns. Thanks for sharing. Carol

LIke your I've voted on both sides of the spectrum and more often as a conversative. I considered myself a Republican until Rush Limbaugh and some some other conservative talk show hosts turned me against the party with lies and outrageous garbage. Now I consider myself Independent. I like everything your said but your did work a little humor in when you went about telling how to deal with goverment male sex regulations.
As far as National Debt, I don't understand it. All countires have high national debts and some much higher precentages than ours. The US is still supposed to have the greatest economy in the world with China our only compeditorl I read Japan has the highest percent of national debt but it is the country we owe the most to. I've also heard the US owes a lot its debt to the American citizens. I hope someone knows what they are doing. You never mention Trump by name but you showed clearly who you were referring to. I completely agree with you there although I live in a red state where I much he careful what I say. I don't think a conservative Republican party exists any more. It has been turned into a cult. Nice written. I applaud you.

Beth, thank for your reading. Your analytical review is excellent. American does have the largest economy in world. It's not even close. We also have the largest debt in the world, and it's not even close. Nor is it sustainable according to people I know in the financial sectors. Terry.

I have an aversion to opinions, and when so called experts can't agree with one another, the only thing I agree with is the fiscal irresponsibility of governments, (could we run a household like that?) debt is heading in one direction, when the interest debt starts exceeding the national income, i would have thought that's bankruptcy. I've read both sides of the environmental issue and don't see either holds water, I don't think God will allow man to destroy what is essentially His.anyway. Religion has always been national, trouble arises when it ceases to be...do you see a national unity? Another destructive path. I stick only to things that hold truth with integrity, this imperfect man isn't capable, only absolute truth is. How truths are there? Only one, the rest is conflict. Thanks fo posting Terry, blessings Roy

Amen! Preach it, Terry! Appreciate your well written rant and I agree with you on every point. I am conservative with liberal leanings if that makes any sense. I would like a country that doesn't have political parties because it's become an emotional US vs THEM alignment with greed for power. And that one candidate that the Republicans are supporting should make all those party members ashamed of themselves! Best wishes in the contest!

Helen, thank you for the six stars. There are a lot of us who are conservatives but look for ways to help our fellow citizens of the planet. We operate that way in our personal life and budgets. But the government is full board run-a-muck. Terry.

I'm sure this could be a prime rant with most folks, and you've hit all the pinnacle points on the head. Your political sentiments made me feel better.

Haha, I love it! The government will supervise any penis inserted into any vagina and a large fee will have to be paid if they did it without approval. I love it! That would solve the problem and then some other problems along the way! Otherwise, I am with you. We need real leaders who will lead our country to a better place than we are now. That's my two cents worth of ranting.

Comment from Rachelle Allen
The problem with expressing one's political view is that the only one afterward who feels better afterward is the one who spewed. Whether anyone agrees with it or not, it sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher: wah, wha-wha wah WAH.
Of course, in this case, I do get SOMETHING out of it: ten points and $1.24 member dollars (and maybe more.)
The bottom line this year, Terry, is that it doesn't matter who anyone votes for: there is no good candidate and NO good choice. So that makes talking about it an effort in futility and exasperation. We might as well all just save our breath/digital ink and just keep our thoughts to ourselves. It's always supposed to have been a secret ballot anyway.

Rachelle, Good luck on the more funny money part. Thanks for reading. We agree there are no good choices. And for a while, anyway, in America, I still get to Wah-Wah-WAH, all I want. Try it; you might like it. Hell, fire, and damnation, with your writing ability and wit, you would easily win the Rant contest. I think it's real money. I don't know because I never won one. But if you do, I expect 10%. Terry.

Well, Terry, I'm thinking that after I posted that rant on Reddit about FS and its family block of voters that was sanctioned by Tom (I still have the PM he sent me that stated, "Children are allowed to vote for their mother. I don't have a problem with that, and it doesn't create a break in any site rules," I'm betting that my chances of ever winning a Committee-sponsored contest are about as likely as Joe Biden getting through a speech without a teleprompter...or Donald Trump getting through a speech without reminding us how utterly FABULOUS he is and integral to the health and stability of this country.
So I never-but-never apply to the "free" contests. And with that family block of voters still in place and sanctioned by our Grand Pubah, I also rarely enter the contests I have to pay to enter, either. (I do check ahead and see if that mother is signed up and decide accordingly...)
And you're right: for now you're able to wah-wah-wah to your heart's content. But let's make a date to check back with each other in a year to see if that's still the case, shall we? Every day, more and more sanctions are put upon our freedoms. xo

This is the most well-written rant I've read in decades. (Maybe longer but I don't want to get into the whole age thing)
I'm glad you feel better. I'm amazed that I do!
Most rants (here and elsewhere) are negative, belligerent, dismissive, and downright belittling.
Rants can, and should, be passionate. They need not ever be an assault on every other point of view. (Something our politicians, cable news commentators, et al should think about)
You've cogently presented a list of important issues as well as your perspective, and you've done so in a way that (to my mind) invites dialogue, not personal attacks.
"I want a candidate who spends the next four years focused on the issues of America and the world..."
Perfect!
Who among us can possibly disagree?
Not this reviewer!

Karenina, thank for the six stars. And the juxtaposition and calm demeanor of your review is not to be overlooked. Dialogue. You and my friend Ann looking for common ground for the common good. Is that even possible anymore? Terry.

If not, we're in for a bumpy ride ending in the loss of our democracy!

I enjoyed listening to your rant very much. I agree in some points. I disagree in some points. I just wanna election that I know is absolutely fair. Give me a ballot box that is not stuffed with a bunch of phony votes. I wish you the best in the contest. Patricia .

Thank you, Patricia. Common sense, respect, and working together is the only way to improve anything. Sadly, I think it's too late. Terry.

I think a lot that?s going on is that the media in this country is not being fair and not reporting both sides of the situation and so it?s very confusing to the voter.

"Conservative or Liberal" Like most balanced folk, I'm some of both.
Good of you to create the 'Write A Rant' contest.
Carter was one of my favorite presidents. A decent, decent man!
"please keep your noses out of people's love life. That's just not the government's business." Hear, hear!
"What happened to civil discourse in politics? " A shame that it's now rarer than a blue moon.
Excellent points to your common sense rant here. Well penned.
