Oh, what a fun grandma you are, Nanny. It sounds like the girls adore you, as well they should.

I loved how you didn't fuss at them for writing on the veranda instead of the walk--much more interesting for them on the veranda--but just went with it. Your values are in the right place!

I was very amused with much of the antics and your descriptions of them, even something like Sunny's "He listened intently, and then repeated the same crime."

The other Nanny's house may be more immaculate, but I'll bet they have more fun at your house! These years are precious. Treasure them while you can.

Although all ages can be fun in their own way, these early years when you have the energy to keep up with them, are exceptionally gratifying and memorable. I have very fond memories of my two grandsons at that age. They are just a bit older now--10 and 8--and already losing some of the innocence of youth, and I miss those early years.

I agree - these young years are when the relationships are established, and make a great foundation for the future. It?s worth feeling a bit tired to have the joy and pleasure of their love. Thanks so much for a lovely review.

I can see this whole scene playing out - especially Sunny, following the girls around and wondering what has happened to his routine.

Did you just say you followed up the chalk play with Play Dough, lol?!

Three paragraphs up from bottom: it took quite a while to hose own the veranda (hose down)

I'm tired just reading this Wendy! Your grandkids are happy - cleaning can always wait:-)

Until Tuesday . . .

Thanks so much Pam, for this lovely review and for picking up the typo. Always appreciated. Yes, playdough. What?s wrong with my brain?!! Anyway, no problem there ?. But it was probably a bit risky.

Wore me out just readin'! Mercy! Makes a body pray for rain even if you don't need it. Goodness, did your door not have a lock?
I hope you never offer finger-painting.
Best of luck to you.

The back doors are sliding glass doors, which have a lock system which the older girls can do, but no key. And yes they have locked me outside a couple of times just for fun. Only for a few minutes fortunately and they were laughing at me through the glass. And yes we have done finger painting, but there I am super controlling!

From your writing: She works two days a week, so the other grandmother and I have a special day each with looking after Miss Three, and then picking the big girls up from school, (commas not needed) and looking after them until she finishes work.
Yesterday I asked Miss Eight if she would like to draw with the jumbo chalk, (comma not needed) on the back path leading to the shed.

In American English, we wouldn't need commas in these places; however, I realize English from other countries may be different.

I saw other examples of unnecessary commas, but I'm a firm believer in "If in doubt, leave it out."

Thanks for the review, and I have removed a few commas, but in Australia the convention is to use commas for a speech pause. I have noticed US writers use them far less. Thanks for the suggestion. Much appreciated.

What a busy grandma you are! And Sunny is enlisted, too. Despite all that cleaning, you have the satisfaction of knowing how much your grandchildren love being at your house!

I have watched a couple of boys since they were babies, and I'm like you. Id rather keep them busy and happy then have a clean house. my youngest daughter will be graduating hs next month. time goes too quickly. also, i raise golden retrievers, i would love to do hospital visits with them. any suggestions?

In Australia these therapy dogs must pass an initial assessment and interview, then both owner and dog have training and usually a considerable period of training and further assessment. They visit other venues for some time before being approved to visit hospitals. You may have some similar system in the US. Not sure. Thank you so much for reviewing. I greatly appreciate it.

Wow, this story is busy as and more. No doubt those Misses are creators of havoc in an otherwise well -kept home. A very good story that was humorous and entertaining. Well done. Have a great day. Oh, and take a rest.
Cheers

We always have a lot of fun. They are sweet natured and good girls, and usually help to restore order, thankfully. A lovely review! Many thanks.
