I enjoy your style of writing, sentence structure, and descriptions. You put the reader into the scene. This story is off to an intriguing start, and I hope to learn a lot about this ancient city as the mystery of the protagonist's real reasons for a visit is revealed. See you in the next chapter.

I love your delicious descriptions of every scene place and attitude. It is great to hear from you again after you took some time off to regroup and start again with more gusto.
This reminds me of another story you once told. Are you entering the novel in a monthly contest too? I thought you wouldn't do this as you left the site for a little while.
Great to read and digest the details as they lay from line to line.

I'm not doing the novel in a month. I like to work at my own pace. i have a very particular method of writing which doesn't end itself too well to set time constraints! lol Much appreciated, Jesse. G

I'm not too fond of time constraints, either.
Enjoy the weekend.

Hi Gareth, this was definitely worth my last six of the week.
But, first of all, it's good to seeing you back, and then with some fine writing as this is. I will be looking forward to following along. Ulla:)))

That's exactly what we do, we observe, we ponder, but it generally appears to be whatever our foundation is, it's from that seat we judge, and hopefully don't judge at all, but have compassion, He knew everything, but didn't lay a foundation harsh really reality, beautifully written, blessings Roy,

This story chapter, The Arrival, looks like the readers are about to take a renewed trip to Canterbury, with some updated or brand-new interesting vignettes.

Hi, G,
I'm happy to see your post! It always seems to come at the right time when I'm looking for something different and profound--a snippet in time with a bit of himself incorporated.
Great post, G. Best, JohnC

This is a great story! The protagonist's goal to not reveal their true purpose and their observation of the other travelers creates a sense of intrigue and tension. The story also raises questions about the protagonist's true purpose and what they hope to gain from joining the pilgrimage. Overall, it's a well-written and engaging story that keeps the reader interested and curious about what will happen next.

An interesting way to begin a novel. I do say you write in a different was such as "had have, forbodance (olde English, perhaps) and copious' caught my attention. Regardless, it was a pleasant read.

Yeah, it's a particular type of writing and a period piece and as such the language needs to reflect that. Much appreciated as always, Tom. G
