Good morning, Barbara
For being a teacher, Sami's attitude of mistrust and defiance sets me back a little. She should be aware of the danger she is putting herself and others into as well. Maybe she is so focused on her own plan, she isn't thinking logically. Noah at least is aware he is crossing the line having feelings for Sami, but he's doing his best to stay professional and complete his job. Looks like these two are going to have quite the struggle with their attitudes. Great job! Wish I had a six.

Can not blame her, but Sami resents the fact her house was broken into and her dog drugged by the agents.
Sami possesses a serious attitude, and violent temper, as displayed by slapping Noah's face.
"He's sort of the clearing house" should be He's sort of the clearinghouse.
Seems Sami not quite buying into Noah's story as her last comment "you can leave" indicates.

Another great chapter in this tense story. My only suggestion is to make this part stronger - 'Sami walked to him, slapped his face as hard as she could, and then went back to the bedroom. She slammed the door, before she crawled into bed.'
The sentence made me stumble - perhaps, 'She slammed and then crawled back into bed.'

Excellent chapter here. Your setting, characters and plot shine through even though this is the first chapter I have read.
The characterization is believable and your language and literary techniques convey the theme of human trafficking very well.
Sami is surface level unlikeable, naive and defensive which makes sense given her situation.

Well, I really don't like your Sami character. She's rather slow to catch on about how much danger she was in and the danger she put other people in with her stubbornness and self-righteousness. It's ridiculous that she would blame Noah after all that he has been through and the risks he took to keep her safe.
