Good morning!
What an awesome poem reminiscing of times spent with a father, good times, cherished memories while he is gone, hope for meeting him once more. Beautiful!

Ciao ,

bittersweet reminiscing that packs a punch.

Not only did you share quality time with your father as a child before going to bed, it's obvious, that your father passed on to you the love for poetry.

I saw my parents two months spread out per year as a child (and teen) but I did have a grandfather who had a creative imagination.

He would make up stories to entertain me when I was on school holidays from boarding school.

On Sunday mornings I would slip into my grandparent's bed to listen to his tales while my grandmother prepared breakfast.

Best of luck for the contest !

This is a lovely rhyming poem about the special book of poems and the memories it carries for you. You've showed the emotions that this special book brings to you and the time spent with your father. Beautifully written,
good luck in the contest.

Very very beautiful. Yoour poem is smooth in its rhythm and metre, has fine rhyme, a meaningful subject, and best of all it touches the emotions, because of the closeness of father and child, and the precious and enduring memories formed and treasured throughout life. Best wishes for your entry in the contest. I expect it will do well.

This is an excellent choice for the An Object Contest.... I love the simple rhymes and the image you chose.
I have a question... What do you mean...."Here in downeast Maine, poem has two syllables." As far as I know Po em is always 2 syllables...

Thanks, Lisa. Some people I know pronounce poem as one syllable.

A sweetly rhymed and metered poem which flows smoothly from beginning to end. As well you have chosen an object to memorialise that should resonate well with readers (and voters!) on FS

Your poem is full of gentle sentiment and the skill with which you handle the technical side is perhaps the best testament to the truth of your childhood listening habits.

Good luck.

Such a beautiful memory you've shared, Mystery Poet. You paint a picture in words of a time in life when your father passed his love of poetry to you, his child. My father did the same, but not in the tender way you describe in this poem. None-the-less, I'd love to listen to him read them to me as well.

Best of luck in the poem,
Rhonda

I love pieces of writing like this where we can all live and let live remembering those precious moments when mom and dad simply loved us. I hope this does well. Well deserved!

Thanks, Kiwi. It is too bad that there are some who have never known the love of a parent.

You wrote a wonderful tribute for your father in this an object contest. To tell you the truth reading this poem was so captivating that only when I read your note did I even wonder about what aspect which doesn't apply. Thank you for Sharing your Poem on Reflection of your Father. God's Blessings to Both of you
