It is so sad when a loved one passes away. You have written about it extremely well. I like the way these small town folks strongly support each other in a time of crisis. (Not including Calhoun, of course. He is a different thing altogether.) This continues to be a highly excellent posting, my friend.

This is a very well-done end for a wonderful man. He loved his wife, his daughter, his business, and his community. I'm sure he would have stayed behind if he could as Emma's troubles are not yet at an end.

Oh, no..... that's so sad. I didn't expect it. It's going to be very hard for all family and friends but specially Susan and Emma. Thank God Emma has Seth. I can't believe that creepy Ronnie showed up at the hospital.

It is weird how invested I am in this story. Men could live well, and have longer lives if they would go to the doctor twice a year. I am all teared up. Perhaps the fact that life can go fast will prod Emma and Seth. In the short term, Emma will probably move in with her mother, saving on rent, and making Seth work harder without her on his doorstep. Jacob and Susan will grow closer after a while. Calhoun and Peggy will meet and devise nefarious activities, and get caught in a very badly planned kidnapping, and Peggy will get killed in the gun battle. And ronnie will go up for life without parole. Jacob will retire and he and Susan will let Pastor Pat run the bakery and split profits 50/50 with the church. They now run a rescue & training dog operation. They supply many counties with well trained doggies. Seth and Emma have two girls and two boys. Rachel, Debra, Jacob, and Keith.
That is what your writing made my brain do. Use any or all of it or none. My brain was getting full again.

You handled this chapter, Barbara, with superb skill and sensitivity, evoking appropriate emotion at the end. Dialogue was also excellent and, though a long chapter, this read seemed to be over in minutes. We also, of course, have the go-ahead for Seth and Emma:) Very well done! Debbie

Full of interest and high drama. I didn't see anything to change. It was engrossing and well- written, and I am pleased that her father had the time and energy to speak with each one, and give his love and blessings.

A chapter of contrasts, this one. Exciting yet sobering, sweet but sad as we see Keith depart from Emma's life. He could feel his time was up, and he wanted to make sure his family knew that he loved them.
The scene between Keith and Seth was very touching as Keith passed the reins to Seth and was able to pass with the knowledge that his daughter would be in the hands of a good man who would love and protect her and hopefully marry her.

It seems that Keith has had a severe heart attack and has now passed on, but not before he told Emma how much he and her mother had loved and appreciated her. And he asked Jake to take care of her, beautifully written episode Barbara, well dine, blessings roy

You made this way too real. I felt lilke I was in the waiting room knowing a loved one was close to death. I've been there. I'm not conplaining. It was excellent writing. I'm sure most of us have gone through the anxiety of wating to find out if they make it.

So Keith passed away in the end. I must say, I did expect that to happen and so did Emma and her mom. But it's always a shock when it really does so. A poignant chapter indeed.
