I liked it. You did a great job of developing the teacher's character with the backstory of dyslexia and the struggles he encountered.
This made me closer to this character and wanting to root for him on this dilemma he's having.

Thank you very much. I appreciate your picking up on that. This will soon become the main theme of the story.

Well written. The sleeping section was best.
I don't think a jury would give any credit to a dyslexia defense.
The section describing Mr. Hafner's testing seemed a bit too detailed. (I wondered, though, as detailed as it was, why David didn't misread any of the words in the 4 answers.)
Best wishes.

I went into the amount of detail I did, because, though perhaps hard to tell at this point, this will become the main focus of the story when we get there soon. The sexual assault charge is really a sub-plot.
I wish we had the ability to give a full blurb or back cover notes for novels at the beginning. That way, readers could read them and see whether or not a story might interest them before investing in a few chapters, only to realize it isn't what they expected. We do this when we go to purchase a book or read about it on Amazon before buying. I could have explained the direction of the book a little bit in advance. You're not the only one wondering what this dyslexia stuff is all about.
