This is an excellent free verse, something to show those who think an essay or article in prose is a free verse. Some of the places we visit on vacation are memorable, some more than others, this is a superbly written piece my friend, blessings Roy

This piece is really quite beautiful. I had never really given birds much thought until I got in this site. Now my love for them has grown exponentially.
I could really visualized this:
They occasionally honk while listening to the newest symphony of rain,
Good luck in the Free Verse Contest.

Thank you for your awesome review.

The geese are nature's waddling ducks who like the rippling water and also the shores next to it. They usually waddle when they walk, and they are known for their pooping grounds.

Thank you for a great review.

I really enjoyed your precise and beautiful language choices and the way these captured the behaviour and potential thoughts of the geese as they patrolled the area. Snippets such as "some posse of dark-eyed sailors", "waddle-pad" and "intermittent tail-waggle" were my favourites. :)

Hooray for the nene goose, Hawaii's state bird! Thank you for shining a light on them. They were endangered once. I like the Guard role that they take. In fact, in a nearby pond, one goose lives with all the ducks and chases away all the other geese for some reason. He/She is the guardian there.
I wondered why you chose the metaphor of a "coin" in " held up like darkened coins"

Thank you for your enthusiastic review. I must have passed a fountain just before writing that poem, where a variety of coins of different shades had been tossed. It's been a while since I was there in Kauai, but the coin reference may have come from something in the area or upon returning to my home state again.
