I thought this was imaginative in concept an execution. I liked how you used this conversation with yourself to invite the reader to your own personal experience of the creative process, and I thought the use of incomplete sentences highlighted this theme of being unable to finish the creative process of writing a poem. All the returns to that phrase "What was I writing about?" achieved the same thing. Then there's all those distractions that drag us from the process; that phone call invite for lunch at the end, for example. Interesting use of form to provide a framework for the theme. estory

This was so darling, and I bet lots of fanstorians can identify with it...I know I can. Days later, it all comes back, but if I don't write it down quickly it's gone again. I love the way you wrote it, as if the words are thinking, and the yellow makes it whimsical. Well done.

Hahaha ... you made me laugh.

Excellent entry for the Writers Block writing prompt contest. You did a good job expressing the way our minds work sometimes... so random.

What a cute cartoon illustration.
The poem did a great job of interrupting itself, but it seemed to go on for a long time. I kept thinking it was coming to a close, and then it would start up again. Still fun to read.

Thanks, leather. I was trying to replicate the unstructured mental fog that accompanies writer's block. I appreciate your feedback!

Is this writers block or just signs of a busy scattered brain. Ha! Great piece. I enjoyed the pace.

Thank you for sharing and good luck in your competition.

Hi, Douglas. I think there's evidence that both are at play! In my experience, they often co-exist or one tends to propagate the other. Thanks so much for your feedback.

This was great ! You describe the humor and pain of writer's block at the same time. It does feel as if the character's procrastinates as well as have writer's block. Those are intertwined.Good Luck in the contest!

Thank you! Yes, I believe the two are often related. One probably gives birth to the other. Thank you so much for your feedback.

I like the story, but I'm having trouble reading this as any form of poetry. You deliver on the frustration of a writer with a humorous touch, and maybe I'm just out of touch with this style of poetry.

This rating does not count towards story rating or author rank.

Thanks, Mark. This is an example of free verse. It's certainly very different from other forms with more measured syllables, metre and rhyming schemes. They are fun and challenging as well, and I write frequently in those forms too, but free verse gives you a liberty of expression that I found helpful when trying to express the mental fog of writer's block. Thank you for your feedback.

Oh dear this is one disappointing muse as the laptop closes and the muse is dead here, you made me smile with this marathon march through your mind, love Dolly x

"Marathon march through your mind". What lovely alliteration! :) Sometimes the muse deserts us entirely. Thank you so much for your feedback, Dolly.

This is a great entry for the contest. It just says it all and in the end an impromptu lunch with a friend yet again distracts her from writing. Good luck. Ulla:)))

Yes, Writer's Block can be exactly as you describe it--on the tip of your tongue but unable to recall. And it's so easy to get distracted as you pointed out. This was amusing and all too true. Rod
