I was looking at old pictures this afternoon. I am having the same feeling you have expressed in your poem. Raising the babies seemed hard at the time and that it would never end, but having those years back would
be mighty fine. I like the comparison of rocking horse days with the seat of the rocking chair.

This poem, Rocking Horse and Rocking Chair, presented with five AABCCB-rhymed sestets, streamlines one's lifetime from the anticipation of youthful minds to the reflection of those on the other end. Neat.

Bill,
Thanks for the great review. I am certainly more towards the rocking chair end of the chain but love reflecting to the younger days. Have a great day and take care.

The author's words bring back lots of memories. I raised 2 sons so the
rocking horse played a big part. I don't have a rocking chair in my new
place but I am ready for one! The poem flows and connects well. I liked
how this author addresses through the poem both the young and old!
The artwork is perfect and compliments these words.
Hi Barry, have a great week!....Maria

Maria, thanks for your kind review of my poem. As you say a Rocking Chair might just be the thing for you. Perhaps a Christmas present? I am certainly up to the Rocking Chair end. Take care and have a wonderful day.

Your memories bring tears to my eyes. How many times I wanted to push ahead the years and my mother would tell me, "Someday, you'll wish you could go back." Just as those years are to be cherished, so might I say of your words.

I like how the Speaker, now in a rocking CHAIR, looks back at his youth and remembers all the fun things and "happy times." Your poem takes on a rocking rhythm and I enjoyed the unusual format of each stanza. A fun read! Rod

Beautifully done, Barry, in this fine and musically rocking rhythm and unforced rhyming pattern. It lulls the reader into those childhood times of innocent pleasure represented by the rocking horse, bringing us smoothly back to the present where those dreams of contentment take place. Well done and good luck! Debbie

Debbie,
Thanks for your kind review. So glad you enjoyed it. Might have chosen the wrong contest for this as I notice some rhyming ones coming up as well. Might just have to create another one.
Take care and have a wonderful day.
Cheers
Barry

A lovely poem for my reviewing day as I rock away in my chair. I guess this gives away my age. Beautifully written and illustrated for the no rules poetry contest. Sending you my best today as always, and my very best wishes for the upcoming contest.
