Do not stop writing, promise me. We all get caught at some point with our pants down. There isn't one single person who hasn't been scammed. Some how. I worked for a man, briefly, who said your reward is in the near future. He paid minimum wage and when you worked overtime, guess what, it rolled forward. My last check from him bounced. I never got the money. Eighty hours, working in an unairconditioned warehouse with no bathroom. We've all done stupid shit. We love you, Jay. Gretchen

I could never stop writing. That's why I wrote this story. I need the therapy it provides.

I hadn't. and They were. a scam.

Yes, sadly, I was taken in by a "speed your computer up" scam. They are all sad commentaries of the trustors and violators of trust. Thank you, Katherinel

Did you report them? Am sure you must have. Can't anything be done about them if they did that much damage?

Not a thing can be done. The police told me that. I didn't even have them go to the extra time and trouble to fill out their report. They've got more to deal with in protecting our city from other senseless crime.

I checked our reply history. I hope I didn't miss a response from you. No, the police said that all they could do was make copies of all the gift card receipts and keep them on file, but once the scammers got their numbers they were long gone ... as was my cash.

A sickening experience. The evil in some people never ceases to amaze and anger me. And they were probably using those phones, I forget the name for them that people use, short term that can't be traced.

It's nice to know you can depend on your wife for help with the finances even though you are separated. It is sad to know that you were a victim of scammers. It's also a shame they don't use what they "know" for a better purpose.
