I know you really like horses! And I hope you don't have claustrophobia. I like this horse the best as he is the most cooperative and congenial. I wonder what the name will be.

Will the colt and goat be moved together?

I wondered about:
gave me a please look. (pleased? or a 'please' - imploring look?)

    Hi Helen,
This horse does seem like a sweetheart as he exits the ship and is freed.
Hmm. I thought I corrected that to ?pleased? hours ago. Thanks for the heads up. I?ll check it again.
Thank you for stopping by to read this chapter. I appreciate the encouragement. Have a wonderful day.

Perhaps I was working off an old copy? So you probably fixed it!

What I love about your narration is your calm and snoozing voice. Even if nothing happens, still keeps the reader on his toes. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

    Hi Iaz Deleanu,
Thank you so much for the six-star rating. I appreciate the comments about the narration being calming, but also keeping the reader on their toes. It's just like what a handler needs to do with the horse, keep the creature calm but attentive so it will respond as needed . I am delighted by your review!

Debi. I'm enjoying your story as previously written. I like how Appolo, Titan and no-name have different personalities and are handled by Ava. New terminology, horse talk to get aquatinted with.

I have a suspicion horse .#4 will not go as easy from its stall to the beach.

Keep up the good writing. I'm curious to see where the story goes.

Cheers to the neighs...
John

    Hi John,
I am so glad you are enjoying each horse and their personalities. Since they are four important characters in the story, I felt they each needed their own chapter to show who they are.
Thank you for the encouragement. Have a wonderful day/evening depending on where you are.

Glad you added the note on the meaning of 'flake' as all that I could think of was a corn flake and that didn't make sense! Well written as usual but I have to wonder where this will eventually go.

    Hi Shari,
Thank you for the six stars and the encouraging comments.
I'm glad the explanation of a flake of hay helped. It was something I wasn't sure would be understood. Please keep me in line if I use jargon that you don't understand because growing up with horses, I may assume people know what I am talking about.
Thanks for sticking around to see where this is going. Have a wonderful day.

I am enjoying this interesting and educational story you are providing about horses, and explanation about hay. I'm glad horse number three followed along easily, and look forward to seeing what special name you give him. I will patiently wait to see if this story becomes the life of a girl, four horses and a goat alone on an empty island.

Hope the baby horse is going to be okay. I really am enjoying this story. I like that instead of running around panicking, she is doing something constructive. She has put her own needs behind that of the animals. I am wondering where the people from the ship are. Is she going to explore this island along with the animals? Gretchen

Okay, great ending line. I really enjoyed the entire story.

It is a human trait to speak t our animals even though they stare at us with apathy but I found myself wondering what the most talked to animal would be. I bet horses are high up on that list.

Good read!
D

    Hi D,
I'm glad you liked the closing line. I wondered about it so I'm glad it worked.
You may be right about horses being high up there on the list of animals that are often talked to. It is highly recommended to speak to them as they can be easily startled if they don't realize you are there which can be dangerous. Even moving from one side of the horse to the other can startle them, so talk or keep a hand on them so they know you are there. Besides letting them know where you are, a calm tone can soothe them.
Glad you enjoyed the chapter. Thank you for stopping by to read and review.

I love your devotion and love of horses, it is refreshing thing to read for me, not really understanding the love for horses, who, along with the dog, have been great servants to the human species, this is beautifully written, (I have always horses snickered rather than nickered, blessings Roy
Typo : A yearling colt, (s)nichered at me...

    Hi Roy,
Thank you so much for the encouraging comments and the six stars!
Maybe it's a regional thing. Here a snicker is a type of laugh people make, usually to make fun of someone. A nicker is a sound a horse makes. A nicker is a softer sound than a whinny and generally means the horse is communicating happiness, affection, or reassurance. One often hears a mother horse nicker to her newborn to encourage it.
I double-checked Google and they list horse sounds as whinny, nicker, squeal, blow, grunt, groan, and snort. No mention of snicker. Maybe it's snicker in Australia and nicker in the US. There are often those subtle differences.
Anyway, love the review and your comments about horses and dogs. Thank you so much for stopping by to read and reivew.
